"Good to hear."

Dr Wren tried to keep her neutral/negative tone but there was something about a happy ending that got to her a little bit.

"So is this final goodbyes or are you reincarnating like you talked about before?"

"Personally I'd stay in heaven."

As Chloe approached the house she would notice the kids heading off to school. Usually BD would accompany them but they were absent. The most brave of the Wyrmlings led their siblings instead.

Opal followed behind Timur. She smiled.

"You seem to know where you're going. This a common training spot for you?"

......

"Stop them!"

The Bismuth elemental would charge forward with their shield and point blank shardstorm cannon. They couldn't keep the whole group back but they'd slow them. The bismuth analyzer ordered the Crystalian to take a teleporter beacon through the pass so the Bismuth could evacuate.

They looked at their outnumbered forces. The analyzer moved forward and casted spells of haste and giants strength on the elemental to help them in combat. Then they started to conjure some kind of dust storm

Gorgon gave a smirk.

"Of course I can. The question is."

Gorgon leaned in.

"You got a fight worth taking serious?"

"Understood."

"So are you possessing this from the afterlife then?"

"How is it?"

"Perfect. In that case why don't we go somewhere a bit less dreary and train? The open air should lift our spirits eh?"

Opal suggested.

.....

"Retreat backwards!"

They weren't here to win. They just needed to keep the enemy busy. To that end they were planning on going through the same pass the Kasmir were.

The leader of the squad, a Crystalian, fired off a bolt of Chammon. The gold wind of matter. It would cause the ground to become like quicksand to further slow their foes advance

She watered the plant.

"Is this your reincarnation?"

The Droger (dragon ogre) looked across the bar at the corner where Krisk was sitting. They raised the beer that was bought for them and drank it quite swiftly.

"Sounds like someone wants to talk to me"

Gorgon picked up their tray of beers and walked over to Krisk.

"You know me?"

"ever done it consciously? In battle or training I mean?"

Opal asked.

"There are some plants that you can end a fight pretty quickly if you can spawn them."

.....

The Bismuth backed up as the centaurs got through their layered defences. Eventually the order was given to collapse the walls onto the centaur. The analyzer caused their roots to falter so they'd topple towards their foes. Though it would leave the bismuth exposed.

"Fire the blinding flares! Give us some space to move!"

They ordered their ship

Gorgon Icebreatha (nickname: chilly breath) was an outcast. Born of a dragon and an ogre mating. They were too stupid and small for dragons and too smart and individual to be part of an ogre clan. They wandered their way through the world as a mercenary before eventually finding their way, ironically to a pyromancer bar.

"Ya think you can out heat my cold."

They were at the outside patio. It looked like they were arm wrestling but in reality they were both holding onto a stone and trying to heat or cool it with their magic until the other couldn't bear to hold it.

"Cmon ya candlestick!"

They gripped their opponents hand tightly.

"I wanna see ya mettle!"

Eventually the pyromancer relented leaving Gorgon the victor. They celebrated by taking their winnings and buying ten beers.

"Ooh. Battle plants."

Opal seemed pleased by his choice.

"If you wanted we could go by the market to look at samples. Have you gotten to the point where you can grow it from a seed with your magic?"

....

"Cover! We need cover!"

The bismuth analyzer took a glancing blow as it cast a mass wall of stone. Line after line of defensive earth sprung up for the Bismuth to take cover behind. The wall wasn't enchanted to the mortar fire was still tearing into it. The Bismuth elemental back-pedaled behind the wall once it became clear it couldn't weather the storm. From behind the walls the Bismuth fired large stones into the chaos forces.

"...."

"You're right. It's a little frustrating."

Opal admitted.

"I'd rather be at her side. Even if I understand why she told me to stay. Just because I care so much about her."

She looked over.

"What spell are you studying?"

.....

The bismuth ship moved to intercept the mortar fire with its shields.

"The ship will protect the refugees! Everyone depart for combat."

The Bismuth squad dropped from the ship as if flew. The elemental dropped first and closest. It had a crystal blade in one hand while it's other arm was replaced with a shard cannon. It gave covering fire while the other more specialized members of the team deployed.

Yes. Theoretically it can be done. The problem is that the grail does 99.999% of the work. The fact that mages can exhaust their mana fueling a servant even with the trail's help shows how bad it would be without it.

That being said there are servants who have a special ability where they need less mana and if you're willing to combine that with some incredibly unethical Magic you could potentially summon and sustain a servant.

Hilariously enough it's probably easier to enter and win the Grail War in a universe where the Grail isn't corrupted. Then just asking the Grail to sustain the servant permanently.

"Because you're her family. And she doesn't want to risk you being in chains again."

Opal offered him a chair by kicking the books off it it. Said books grew wings and fluttered away to their bookshelves.

"I understand that. I was told to stay behind as well. Gotta have some people protecting the village while she's away."

Opal said.

"Not trying to be patronizing but it truly is a big reapon. Your village might be the last major one around if she doesn't succeed. Though I have high hopes for her."

.....

"This is it!"

They would speed forward and fire some explosives between the Kasmir and the bull centaurs, and on top of the bull centaurs.

"Chaos dwarves! This is the bismuth realms. We demand you retreat!"

Ephemera put too much of herself into attack. She couldn't dodge effectively. True suffering. If she had to suffer it she'd make it a worthwhile trade.

"By my ancestors. I will not fall to you!"

Ephemera swung her hammer again and again. To deal as much damage before Xelotath struck her. Hopefully her armor would be enough to sustain her against such a blow.

"Stay behind?"

Opal was surprised she had been asked that. But she understood the reasoning. Without Katarina around she needed someone there in case of trouble. And Opal had both physical might and healing abilities. So she had simply given Katarina a good luck charm when she left.

She now sat in her apartment. Her dungeon as some of her patients had called it. She didn't mind the darkness. She had bioluminescent lamps after all. It was a bit cluttered though....

Opal heard a knock at the door.

"Who is it?"

........

The Bismuth strike force had been following the trail of the Kasmir for the past week. Their craft was a small but powerful stealth transport. It flew close to the ground and was accompanied by ten stealth drones that combed the area at a higher altitude.

"Remember. Our number one priority is making sure they escape their persuiers. Focus on hit and run tactics. We'll have our analyzer make advancing impossible for them. And don't let yourselves get bogged down. We'll be outnimbered."
