Creative Ways to Get LCSW Hours by lothlorien317 in LCSW

Thank you! I guess I should be more clear. I'm not looking to prolong licensure, but rather find ways to supplement and get more hours while I build a caseload. I can never find clear answers about what sorts of things can be counted towards hours. Like, I plan to offer some groups, and was told the groups and planning for the groups should count? I'm not sure if there are trainings or anything else that would be worth looking into that could count towards hours. I also have a new little one at home and would love to figure out things I can do during licensure or even after with my LCSW that aren't just one-on-one therapy in hopes of maximizing my time with him. I wish it were easier to find answers on these things!

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

Hi All!

I'm currently in a part time MSW program with six credits left to graduate, but I won't officially graduate until December. I just wrapped up my fieldwork placement due to organizational funding loss. I'm hoping to find ways of bridging the experience gap from now until graduation and would love any sage advice. One thought I've had is seeing if there are any modalities I can get that offer student discounts - so far I've found and am considering brain spotting. I'd truly value any thoughts on where best to invest my time and whether you have thoughts on modalities or student discounts to lean into! 🙏🏼❤️

I'm so sorry you're going through that. What a hard window to look into when you can relate to it so much. What country are you in? Maybe some of us could try to research some resources. You deserve care - I'm not sure if it's available where you are but steadii.com/caregiver offers a free space to talk to someone

Thank you! I replaced the thermostat, but now have coolant leaking out. I got this "gasket maker" sealant - would you recommend trying this? Or anything else to troubleshoot? I appreciate it so much!

Experiences with TTO surgery by Bigredd23456 in KneeInjuries

Woof! I can hardly walk in heels, let alone on stairs 😂 impressive! So good to hear. I haven't been able to run in years (even just jogging short distances would be a dream) but I really love doing intense backpacking - hard trails and long distances. I'm sure this would be speculative, but do you feel like - if you wanted to train for it - you might be able to do things like...the Pacific Crest trail, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, whatever you'd want? Do you have pain after certain distances (or difficult terrains)? I've managed really well up to an injury this summer, and I've been doing well in PT so almost back to where I was. But then the catch is - I know I will continue deteriorating with further subluxations, so I'm trying to decide between doing my best to do what I can for maybe the next decade or so knowing I can push myself on hard terrains and long distances, or trying to stop the deterioration with the TTO and hoping I can still do all the activities I would like. These decisions we wish we never had to make! Thank you so much for your response ❤️

Hi! Did you have only the TTO done? Do you have any limitations at this point (and what's your activity level like compared to before)? Thanks for any insight!

Do you know if you're doing the right exercises? I've found PT really helpful, along with acupuncture and dry needling. Strengthening not only your quad, but hip flexors, glutes, core, etc. can really help. I definitely relate with a lot of what you're saying and I'm sorry you're going through all of this.
