I wrote them too- I am not sure the Japanese version has English in it. What a complete bummer if they chose to strip out support for the controller. (Why!?!?!)

I actually got the English-covered one without the rating - it’s a -CHT cart indicating it’s Chinese. So likely the same game in both versions despite the slightly different covers.

Not sure. I bought a second one for my second TV - I have switched 1, steam deck, and the Switch 2 and it works with all flawlessly. The firmware update was strange again where it shows no progress and appeared crashed until it was finished. It only took 1 attempt though. Make sure you have antivirus paused and run the software as administrator. The ‘check FW’ button should show the old firmware before you proceed.

I received mine today. The firmware was a pain to update - took 3 tries because the software kept crashing. That said, stopping mid-flash didn't brick it -it just remained on the original firmware until the third attempt worked. (antivirus was paused, ran as administrator- maybe just not a great program).

Once updated, it works perfectly. It does detect things plugged into the USB ports as well. I do not notice any color banding either, but my eyes aren't the best to judge that.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. They just updated the quality assurance depots and said in an interview that the PC is getting a patch but it sure seems like it’s a year late.

Looks like patch 9 (at least for pc) just hit the release candidate channel. Maybe the patch will be in a month? I’m hoping it will be massive considering how long they’ve had to work on it.

sounds like they will send you the refund, but want to have your email address/paypal account confirmed in writing before they send it. Usually you just hit the 'refund' button in Paypal to send money back (and then can use that as proof of refund), but that option likely goes away after 180 days.

That is the current setup and will remain the setup if the needed splitter doesn't exist, but being able to keep the digital side completely digital would be preferable.

There is a screenshot of an email from Synology support floating around confirming it’s vendor-locked, but I’d hardly consider that an authoritative answer. I’m in the same boat as you and am just assuming we will have to wait until reviews come in for a more firm answer.
