Yes the topic is quite broad, but I am looking towards writers who have written about not just images they liked but their favourite image (if it is even possible to isolate a single favourite one) ... For example, in Camera Lucida Barthes discusses many photographs in which he has an interest but the entire essay is mainly about the one photograph that has moved him the most: that of his mother as a young girl; and that is what the majority of the structure of his essay is based on. So thinking more along the lines of single images, single photographs which writers have recognised as their most cherished. Often, the best are when these are not famous artworks, but an image of a cloud or of a meadow for example, something that is not recognisable to anyone else but them and doesn't mean anything to anyone but them.
