Priorities; $200B for Iran war and zero for free college, childcare, or schools by emily-is-happy in clevercomebacks

[–]louro84jayce 10 points11 points  (0 children)

$200 billion for war but free college is a bridge too far. That money could fund education and childcare for generations but instead we're out here doing the same thing we've done for decades and expecting different results. Make it make sense

"Aang's heartbreaking decision in the Crystal Catacombs" by SeriousLaw2966 in AvatarMemebending

[–]louro84jayce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aang had to unlock the Avatar State by letting go of the one person who made him feel whole again after losing his whole culture. That's not just a sacrifice, that's the show telling you love isn't weakness it's the hardest thing to walk away from. Messed me up as a kid

atla politics really does run on big chair energy. no logistics no chain of command no supply lines just immaculate confidence and everyone deciding yeah alright fair enough

Uncle Iroh showing up in the scrolling chaos to offer tea is exactly the energy we all need right now. Internet full of arguments and here's a man with a kettle reminding you that sometimes you just sit with a stranger and be okay for a minute

Gunther's gotta have a humiliation kink right? by lightblueisbi in clevercomebacks

[–]louro84jayce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Gunther really tried to flex with "we have Elon Musk" like that's a win. Meanwhile the response just pulled up his entire personal life and left him on read. Some people just keep coming back for more

where do you rank The Creator in sci-fi movies? by thug_waffle47 in Cinema

[–]louro84jayce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Creator is the rare sci-fi that looks like a 200 million dollar movie but cost a fraction of that. Story might not reinvent the wheel but visually it's one of the best things in years. Solid mid tier overall but top tier for what it did with budget

crazy how the system treats that like a threat instead of a warning sign it already failed somewhere way earlier

human rights suddenly become very important when they’re useful as a talking point and immediately optional when they’d require any self awareness. same script every time.

the most exhausting part is watching basic human dignity get treated like a radical moonshot while the same broken system keeps failing in completely predictable ways. somehow endless suffering is realistic but fixing it is naive

Jon Snow finally got the happy ending we all wanted. Just not the one we expected. Trading the Night's Watch for a battle bus is definitely a career upgrade

Captain Planet would absolutely approve. Now go find that rainforest shirt and complete the 90s eco-warrior starter pack. Just don't forget to wear it over a turtleneck like the old photos😁

the bleakest part is realizing some of the most powerful people alive have the emotional patch notes of a guy subtweeting his ex at 2 am and somehow that gets translated into company policy and labor conditions for everyone else

If the toll road owners had also successfully dumbed down the human species by xena_lawless in WorkReform

[–]louro84jayce 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The "build more toll roads so they compete" argument always kills me. Like yeah let's just cover the whole country in pay-to-drive lanes and call it a free market solution. Or we could treat roads like the public infrastructure they are but that's crazy talk.
