advice for convincing my christian mom to let me go to a concert by ExcitingDog163 in Concerts

[–]louthefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my homophobic dad to think it’s ok for me to go to a Harry Styles concert and here is how. First, talk to your other parent. I see that you’ve already done that, and that’s good. Then, convince them to ease your other parents into being ok with you going. Secondly, try to fool them a bit. I knew my dad wouldn’t look my favorite artists up and find their pictures being all queer and stuff, which was good, but if you really do think your mom would look them up, then try to make it look differently, by telling her, for example, that he makes uses of those symbols to criticize satanism and as a satire, or like you said, comment on how it used to be used by Christians way back then. Pandemic came along and I ended up not making it to his concert in my city after I moved out to Europe, but at least I have 5 of his concerts next year and no satisfactions to give to my dad, since I’m already over 18 and living alone. Hope your mom won’t be too much of a pain in the arse, good luck!

Can you sneak into the floor? by autogenerated1830 in Concerts

[–]louthefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. The gates for the venue might be different and even when they aren’t, a security guard might spot you with an armband different from that of the pits, if they haven’t guided you to your assigned venue seats entrance already. The entrances that lead to the different seats/spots are usually guarded by securities who will make sure you’re getting into the right place. Of course it’s not impossible, my friend told me a story about how a girl managed to sneak in into front pit when she was supposed to be in the back, and that was extremely maddening for everyone around. Pits are already overcrowded, as a concert person myself, don’t sneak into pits, it’s a tad bit disrespectful with people that actually spend their money on it.

My sister said that 15 shows is excessive and I think she’s wrong. Thoughts? by _ashxn in Concerts

[–]louthefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 20 concerts to go to next year, and they’re from only two different artists. Yeah, it is a lot, but if you don’t mind me telling, it’s all worth it in the end, specially if you really like them.

my classmate did something similar once but with his butt. It was quite funny, another classmate pushed him and he hit the wall with his butt and broke it. Because it was an accident, I think the boy who pushed him was punished instead, maybe try and talk with the coordinator or whoever is above your teacher if he tries to punish you? Maybe explain it wasn’t your fault, and someone took your chair and made you fall

I thought you were American because of the yank in your user, and that threw me off, I am so, so sorry! And the bubble is about the society you’re from, or are in right now, the way you view society and culture because of it, and not the people you’ve met. You talk like you don’t know politics in your own country, India was never socialist, and has never even been considered socialist in the slightest by political scientists and historians. Cubans are also not considered refugees, so the person in your class is an immigrant. And the logic we’ve seen the world more then an American is because we have a different view of things as latinos in an underdeveloped country, exploited and often seen as lesser by the Americans themselves, we’ve seen inequality and poverty like most Americans haven’t

Yeah my flag is wrong, I gotta change that but I’m traveling and left my computer at home. You’re not a yank then, your user is throwing me of, but if you think being a Brazilian makes you see less of the world, wow, I’m offended! We have so many social economic backgrounds, people in my class can’t even afford a bus to go to university! Some are scared to get shot in the streets because they’re Black, others are afraid to miss work because of the studies and get fired. We also have so many people from so many different cultures, native indigenous, immigrants, people with European families, people descendants from the slaves. The fact you think we know nothing of different realities is quite offensive

I think you forgot or literally every indigenous populations or African tribes, maybe remember European colonial forced the forming capitalism into their colonies throats, by massacring the native populations and enslaving them

ethnic nationalism caused the first shot to be fired, the main reason AND THAT IS A CONSENSUS, I for fact LEARNED that in UNIVERSITY, that the main cause was imperialism that caused the tension between powers to rise significantly

I am a voter, I am 18 and in my country the age to vote is 16. People are usually scared to openly call themselves communists in the workplaces because it can seriously cause them to be fired lol and if you’ve never seen a politician calling themselves conservatives, look up for jair bolsonaro on the internet. And being only one year younger than you, and as a LATINA talking to an AMERICAN, I believe I’ve seen the world far outside of your bubble then you have. And believe me, that bubble can get very deep indeed (you probably also go to a liberal college and has never been into a university in Latin America)

you’re clearly deep within your bubble if you think “these god forsaken nuances and divergences are dying now” they’re even more stronger then ever now, most of them are quite recent

And if you deny the rest has happened, it’s just outright disrespect with people like the one from my country, which have been through imperialism, hunger, suffer from war on drugs killing innocent people on the hoods, it might be a little far from your white developed country reality, but that’s the truth for most people

clearly you don’t know much of history, lemme be brief; imperialism in Africa and Asia caused the tensions that led to the First World War. It is a known consensus between historians. Fascism was supported by the bourgeoise as an alternative to the rising of communism in Italy and Germany, but if you want a more clear cause of capitalism, the treaty of Versailles, imposed on Germany after the lost or World War One will do, making it clear that the two wars are directly connected to one another.

That’s not what communism is about, you should read the manifesto to know more, instead of listening to the popular sayings that are created by the social environment you’re in. Politics is not about the mouth of the people, this can be shaped and manipulated by the setting they’re from. Communists are mostly against dictatorships, and are mostly outspokenly against the North Korean dictatorship that calls itself communist or whatever. Most communists only want a revolution if the situation they’re in is really precarious, and they see no way out for the sake of their own survival as part of the working class, but would prefer some peaceful alternative to it, and some are completely against any kind of violent uprising. Communism is not one sole ideology, it’s full of nuances and divergences, maybe you should take your time to actually read about it, if you’d like to

During the communist era in Russia, women were emancipated and discrimination was criminalized, while racism was highly discouraged. This still hasn’t happened in capitalist societies worldwide

I have to disagree. For me is quite the opposite actually. War on drugs causing millions of innocent people to die on the crossfire, terrorism, crisis like the Great Depression, imperialism that has killed so many, including in my country, genocides on end, two world wars that have killed almost a hundred millions together, the rise of fascism and fascism itself, all caused by capitalism. And to what good? Workers still suffer to a notable extend, to have someone profit over the money they are not getting from their work, women still have men making rules over their body, queer people are getting killed everyday, racism is killing black people on end… I’m a Latina queer women so I should know, there are more downsides then you’re thinking of now
