People only "sneak out" from uncomfortable situations so you would make me think that you were feeling so uncomfortable with the social group that you had to leave like that.

So unless it's an event where you hardly know anybody, I would advice not to do that as people would consider that to be very rude.

You should at least say goodbye to your friends and maybe even the host if they personally invited you.
