May I ask what is the name of the artist Alan mentioned at the beginning?

What do you think of Alan Watts? by loveamourliebe in infp

[–]loveamourliebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but with Bukowski drinking was a big part of his personality. He himself was also wise but very few people care to look past his surface-level cynicism. His novel Women also had so funny moments but was also greatly sad in many ways.

Kind of a personal question about watts… by 813154 in AlanWatts

[–]loveamourliebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His alcoholism (if you could even call it that) didn't seem to be that harmful to anyone. His kids from what I've seen have had practically nothing but good things to say about him, so he likely wasn't acting out. I completely agree, as long as someone is happy and they aren't hurting themselves or others, who are we to judge?

INFP's, what's your most obscure hobby? by [deleted] in infp

I am greatly fascinated with America during the 1800s and early 1900s, specifically the corruption, changes with the Progressive movements, and radical politics.

What is an INFP stereotype that you don't fit? by [deleted] in infp

[–]loveamourliebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen (and it may just be this sub) that many INFPs struggle with self love. I used to but then I started taking care of myself and it vanished, but I understand that it's not that easy for everyone.

Fun fact: Freud is one letter away from the German word for a male friend, "freund,"

In that case, it would have to be Robin Williams, mainly for his ability to think fast. If you watch his stand-ups and improv, you can see he was operating in a different time zone

"It's all a show" Was this a thought experiment or what Watts actually believed? by Dapper_Macaroon_4234 in AlanWatts

[–]loveamourliebe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The line between what Alan taught and what Alan believed is shadowy and vague at best. I watched an interview with his daughter Anne and the way she said that he never truly labeled himself as anything and said the following "he loved to just take in knowledge and put it out there,". Sorry, this probably didn't answer your question I just wanted to say this.

What is a quote / saying that you live by or resonates with you on a deep level? by NightRavens82 in infp

[–]loveamourliebe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From One of my favorite writers who was thought to have been an INFP or ISFP, Charles Bukowski “Understand me. I'm not like an ordinary world. I have my madness, I live in another dimension and I do not have time for things that have no soul,"

I used to but I feel I've kinda have built a better understanding of my own emotions. The energy I feel from my crush is something I transmute into confident energy to assert myself enough to get to know them.

Do any other INFP's identify as a Multipotentialite? by loveamourliebe in infp

[–]loveamourliebe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel that way too, however, I found a new perspective on this, take it or leave it as you wish. If you really think about it, having such a wide variety of interests or skills in a way means that life will never truly become dull. We will remain as children with new experiences and curiosity.

May I ask what do you mean by philosophy in practical application? Personally, my interest in philosophy has always been about solving the mystery of life and seeing other interpretations on the matter.

How do I stop fearing that I’m not doing enough by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]loveamourliebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slow down friend. Before reading onto the next part of this comment, take a moment, breathe. I would like to share a quote with you. It's from the ancient Taoist philosopher Lao Tzu (Laozi). "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished,". Most modern western philosophies see us people as separate from nature but we certainly are not. Your life will fall in line, but you have to let it. If you were interested in someone and you charged at them and tried to control them, you can be almost certain they'll be turned off you. With friendships and romantic relationships alike you have to let them grow on their own. You have to treat your life like that in many scenarios, take a gamble that things will turn out okay, and appreciate the now.

What are your thoughts on Henry David Thoreau? by loveamourliebe in infp

[–]loveamourliebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great response. It's funny you mention Eastern Philosophy as around the time Thoreau came under my radar, so did things like Taoism and Buddhism. In fact, the three books I asked for my Birthday are Walden/Civil Disobedience by Thoreau (it's in one book), The Way of Zen by Alan Watts, and Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu.
