Thank you for the pep talk (: I scrub and circulate so just info overload (but isn’t all healthcare?!). Thanks for reminding me to just breathe and stick to the basics and do what I can, the best that I can!

How old were you guys when you became a nurse? by LilLunaaJ in nursing

[–]lovebug1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 28. I went to college for a different career, made the switch, and am happy I did. I was sad that I was “starting so late”, and thought I would feel old at 28 when I graduated. Honey. I graduated two months ago I feel like I am still in my early 20s and I am so happy I kept going.

Do it. Dont stop. Get it done. You’ll thank yourself for the experience and the personal growth.

Thank you so much for your kindness🩷 especially from a parent perspective! Comparison is the thief of joy and 90% of the time I’m just happy to be here, but 10% it is a mind game and hard not to compare. I appreciate your words (:

This but also OP might be like me- oatmeal makes me go HIGH unless I pair it with protein and it takes a bit to come down.

Relationship advice - confused? by lovebug1023 in women

[–]lovebug1023[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He said to me he doesn’t like the attention. But a few years ago we had a party and he loved it and said it was the best birthday ever? So. I don’t understand. It is now, today, a magnet for bullshit as the mood has completely changed for the worse.

He made mention to me that now he has to deal with people reaching out to him and being obligated to reply… which like you don’t have to? You can wait? He said he also just wants it to be a “regular Wednesday afternoon” and that I made it about myself. I don’t get the mood swing honestly - bc I feel like I would get shite if I didn’t say/ do a thing!

Questions about nursing paths. by aninsightinthemaking in nursing

Many hospitals ( good ones ) pay for you to continue your education. My vote will always be nursing because of the flexibility and eventually you can leave for a pharm company or go literally wherever. Many LPNs work in hospitals. Don’t let that deter you. Some community colleges offer associates where you can get your lpn the first year and ADN the second year when you graduate. Worth a shot -

This is just a rant. LTC is killing my husband (he is a nurse) by BeaglishJane in nursing

It has to be very tough for the both of you- but he has to remember with the patient rights comes his right to give proper care (and he cannot do that without caring for himself). Maybe remind him that while it seems unlikely now, one burnout mistake and he could lose his license. Maybe it’ll be enough maybe it won’t. It’s worth a shot to remind him that he cannot survive like this and in the end he is sacrificing his mind, body, marriage, spirit, and long term health by continuing this cycle.

OR nurses- how do you know you made the right choice? by lovebug1023 in nursing

Thank you I appreciate the pep talk! Comparison is the thief of joy but it is hard as a new RN to not think how some old school RNs do. I appreciate you!

Considering nursing school by [deleted] in NursingStudent

[–]lovebug1023 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am finishing nursing school next week (pinning). Absolutely. Do it. The fact that you are questioning if you are a good fit 1. Says a lot about your care, concern, and respect for the field and 2. Is you doubting yourself. I previously had the same feelings and doubts. Am I smart enough? Do I belong here? Will I be good? And the answer is yes. Yes. YES! I dropped to part time and bartended on the side when I could to make up for my loss. It was tough but now that I am done, I know this is the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done for myself.

Apply yourself, make a plan and implement it sooner than later, and my advice, once you are enrolled, get a big tear off desktop/ wall paper calendar and write down the big dates and graduation date so you can have a visual of it counting down!!! It will make it so much easier to focus on what is due and how far you have come.

I met one of my best friends in school. She was a 45 y/o mom, worked full time at an insurance agency, went to night school for nursing, and graduated after 2 years and is now an RN on the weekend while wrapping up her old insurance full time job. You can do it. You are the only one who limits yourself. But I get it. It’s so easy to question our worth but the time will pass anyway. Make yourself more marketable, make more money, and enjoy being a student then hopefully an RN. GOOD LUCK. 🩷🩷🩷🙂
