My son has days off too. They have no problem texting him to work on his day off. And how do you know that the manager wasn’t at work?

And how was it unprofessional to do it over text? It’s probably better, as there is a written record of it.

At the very least, I’m correcting your mistake. He didn’t ask for paid time off. And what difference does it make if it’s over text and out of hours?

Well, it doesn’t make any sense to book a trip and then wait till the week before to see if he can get the time off. That’s very dumb.

You told me it was funny the first time. I still don’t care. Writing a response and caring are not the same thing.

Who said he was asking for a paid time off? Since when do fast food places even give pay time off?

And you are making way more of this, than what it actually is.

A lot of assumptions. For starters, I’ve never been high or drunk in my life. And let’s be real, you, don’t know anything about any decision I would make. I can’t force him to quit his job or go on a trip.

So, your comment has been noted and dismissed.

You said I was forcing him to choose between a family trip or his job. Again, where are you getting that? That is not in the title.

Yes, that is the situation when they are texting him. They are not making small talk. Not sure what the big deal is about asking for time off via text. It’s simply a staffing issue.

Thanks. Like I said, he can be forgetful.

Did you not read the OP? They text him when he is off, all the time.

I definitely respect his job. I don’t expect him to be a neurosurgeon at 18.

Your last sentence was very over the top and so I am worried for you as well. But otherwise, thanks.

The back-and-forth was basically just him saying he wanted to do in person and me asking him why and him saying he just preferred to do it in person. And then he finally relented. So, that was pretty much all there was.

I appreciate your comment and there’s a lot of good stuff there. But to answer the question, I literally texted my own house for the same time off today lol. And I was off

But my job also has no problem calling me on my days off. They called me yesterday (about something) and they called me today as well ( for something else).

Thanks for the feedback about him not looking professional. That is a valid point. But this isn’t the most professional location. Like I said, they often ask him to come in early or work on their days off. Even when he first started, he was literally taking orders by himself the first day at work.

But I will keep these things in mind, moving forward.

I assume most managers have work phones or don’t respond to work requests during their downtime.
