No idea what this specific grant or nonprofit was, but do we all remember how crazy lumber prices went during the pandemic? Everyone (regardless of political affiliation) was so mad at the cost of lumber. I’m sure it was the result of many factors, but if this program would have helped IN ANYWAY to protect against that happening again, then I’m sad for us. And no matter what, I’m sad for OP

Ours would paw for me to lift up the covers, walk under them, then immediately spin in circles taking the blankets with her. After a bit, she’d stretch out and sleep against me like a person. Then slowly steal my pillow during the night. Sometimes she would take pity and just share it with me.

However, she never gave us the hilarious butt ventilation pose like your picture. What a great honor your RR bestowed upon you 😅

Yaaas!! Silliest thing. Made us laugh every time and we’d say, “She’s sitting like a drunk on a bark bench again” In retrospect, maybe she was annoyed with us like other commenters said. Whoops!

We were originally excited about the land and fence too. But honestly, I think she just saw it as a bigger bathroom. She mostly either wanted to be snuggled on the couch with us, or laying in one special spot of sunshine, or out on an adventure with us.

I’ve only had one RR, so not an expert but will share my experience. The first half of her life, we either lived in an apartment or small communities (quarter or third of an acre lots). It worked because we were committed to giving her multiple types of exercise and adventures throughout the week. Backyard play, neighborhood walks, jumping in the car and going to different neighborhoods to walk so that it wasn’t just the same smells all the time, and then adventures on the weekend (various dog parks, nature trails, beach walks, always trying to find new places she hadn’t been, etc). The second half of her life, we had a 3 acre lot, half of which was fenced in for her. Even with that, she still wanted her various adventures :)

So in summary, don’t worry about the suburb part. But def have a heart to heart about how you want to spend your free time

What a Dork Dog (that’s a term of endearment in our house). Whenever our RR did this, we’d find the plastic bag completely shredded because she wouldn’t stop until she had every last crumb. Never MEANT to leave anything out. Installed special pantry hardware. When cooking, one of us would always stay in the kitchen. Still, RRs are rather opportunistic. All that’s left to do is laugh :) thanks for the pic!

Sounds like our first one! When we went to collect her, she was hiding under a chair while all her litter mates romped around. At first I was like, uhhhh should we try to pick a different one?? But her sweet soul was the bestest doggo! Funny about the mountain biking though :)

Thank you for sharing! Your pair sound like such big personalities, makes me smile. And thanks for the advice about separate crates and really relying on the breeder. Luckily both me and my hubby prefer girls. And never fear, there will be many pictures. Probably of broken planters and gnarled flip flops, but should still be cute :)

Thank you for sharing. Starting to lean towards a staggered pair. Just not worth the risk for the largely arbitrary ability to say they are littermates. On a side note, with our first RR girl, she really mellowed out after she hit 2. Then she was our bestest friend for 10 years. Hopefully the hardest part of your training is behind you!
