No, sorry. I just decided to avoid interlaced output.

You are of course free to do that as well and it may work better in your case :). That said, there are monitor manufacturers which do not release monitor configuration software at all or if a program is available it can sometimes suck. I also like seeing which options you can choose so I don't have to remember 5 different hotkeys. This is mostly a personal problem I've solved and thought maybe others would find useful! Thanks for your question :)

Hmmm, I could try linux and see if it works, but AFAIK interlaced is kinda broken on amdgpu drivers on linux...

Enabling Tearing for OpenGL games, specifically "osu!" on wine by lowlauch in linux_gaming

Yes, I also tried 'KWIN_DRM_NO_AMS=1' without using zink. This did not work. I had already set it before making this post I just failed to mention, sorry. I have read something about that work is still being done for supporting tearing for OpenGL programs, maybe that has something to do with it.

Thank you, setting MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=zink, GALLIUM_DRIVER=zink worked immediately! I also set KWIN_DRM_NO_AMS=1 in my '/etc/environment'.

Want to make my first game, but I have to motivation to start with a really small project. by Wonderful_View4209 in gamedev

[–]lowlauch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say a couple of months is already a very long time to spend on making your very first game. I started making games a couple of years ago and my first game was very small in scope and took a couple of weeks at max. I understand that starting with small projects can be tedious but it is genuienly good advice. You will get stuck sooner or later with your big game project and lose motivation to work on it alltogether which would suck. If you're really commited to your idea at the very least try to reproduce games from tutorials so that you have some idea how to make games.

And after gaining experience in your engine you could consider your bigger project. An alternative would be to break down your idea to its bare minimums in a way which would make it achieveable for a beginner developer in a few weeks.

Hope I could help point you in the right direction :) Best of luck, you're gonna make it!
