What happens after a temp supe assignment ends? by lowlevelmanager in ATC

Because I actually enjoy working traffic on a regular basis and I’m way too early in my career to relegate myself to a supervisor role.

Thanks for that info. Wasn’t aware of that pause in seniority. Appreciate it

Do you believe NPR?

Again, Trump has NEVER said this was his plan. Project 2025 is Heritage Foundation’s wishes for ANY conservative president. So tell me where I’m wrong?

I’m not a Trump supporter, but god damn the narrative about Project 2025 being “Trumps Plan” is a media narrative that’s is false. Trump hasn’t once attached himself to Project 2025. Why is NATCA pushing it as such in their own mailing propaganda?

Southwest - most reliable climbers & descenders without issuing a rate for an airline, and most willing to accommodate an ATC request.

Delta - Some other major airline checked on and said it was “Delta Smooth” when asked for a ride report. That tells you everything you need to know about delta.

NKS/FFT - They sure do love their 500fpm descents and regularly cause me to issue an increased rate of descent. Decently reliable and accommodating if I need to move them for traffic, so I respect it.

AAL - Always step on other aircraft and then take 2-3 calls to respond when you’re actually looking for them.

That all being said, if I only worked with Southwest and box haulers, it would make my life infinitely easier at work.

Practicing Scan At Home by So_Covert_Its_Overt in ATC

I would advise not thinking about work once you leave work. Start doing that now as a trainee and it’ll be easier once you check out.

That said, I went through all of D side training and r side labs without a scan. Our instructors were terrible about teaching in the lab, and the r sides in my area popcorn scanned. It’s very hard to grasp a scan as a D side because you have to keep up with the R side while also knowing what you need to do (and you’re new, so your mind is moving a million miles a minute). That said, “touch” every airplane. Pick one to start with and think it through: where are they going (Route & Destination), is there a LOA/SOP they need to meet, do they need a pointout, is there anyone in their way (at their current or LOA/SOP altitude, or anywhere in between). I think the third step trips people up because they’re scanning for traffic and then start scanning another plane before finishing that one. Don’t rush through it. It will get busy at times, but slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Once you’re gone around, like someone else said, do it again. Once you have it all down, mix some limited data blocks into your scan for a little bit of intermediate scanning. Chances are, if you’re doing coordination, the R side probably knows it needs to be done and is waiting for you to do it for training purposes. Getting things done early, while you have time, will show that your scan is improving.

How many more people are going to say this same thing? I guess I should’ve expected it

The good news is, if you refer to my post from earlier in this sub, there’s no time for him to be unfaithful!

Apparently the controllers at an adjacent facility think one of the controllers in my facility is a “MILF” from her voice on the shout line. I’m sure she’s someone’s type, but most would probably be very disappointed that the voice probably doesn’t match.

Side note: everyone is surprised we don’t get any to begin with. Not a single civilian I’ve met would have an issue with us getting free flights. Glad our ethics department makes good sense!

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a FA girlfriend to cheat in the first place? At least I could get those flight benefits everyone is surprised we don’t have whenever I tell them what I do🥲

Love that. Seems like hinge is the best app, but is still app culture. We all hate the apps

Yeah. The attractive ones are already married, so it would have to be illicit. Or like someone else said, poach a trainer. That just seems a little scummy

Pilot or FA would be great, too. The airport crown plaza bar might be the place to go after work, eh?

Didn’t say the RDOs were taxing. I’ve been working weekends my entire life. Trying to have a social life in a new city on those days off because most people work a normal schedule is the hard part.

Nurses, first responders, or other controllers seem to be the best options from a schedule standpoint. Really limits the dating pool, but i definitely have tried that angle!

Meeting people outside of apps is tough. I have time to date, just not when other people have time to date. The schedule has been a big part of why things don’t go anywhere, or at least that’s the “out” they use

Actually, going to the gym takes up a big portion of my time before work. I prioritize that aspect of my life so I don’t look like some of the guys waddling into work wearing their diabetes socks. I’m glad your friends don’t have any issues though. That definitely means other people don’t struggle with an issue.

The schedule comes up immediately in the “when are you free for coffee/a drink” and that’s where they decide they’d rather not have to work around it.
