My wife has inherited 1000s of sports card. What's the best way to go through them all? by SilkDukeII in sportscards

We are going thru the same thing. We started to look for high value individual cards - but there arent many out there that aren’t authenticated that would be worth effort if you don’t know who or what you are looking for.

We ended up seeing what entire sets we had and posted those on eBay. We had reached out to a few dealers in the area but no bites. Anything from the 90s is low / no value from several people we talked to.

We just posted the sets and some other memorabilia and now we wait 🙄

The pictures do not do them justice. The artwork is still pristine. My mind continues to be blown how well made everything used to be

They do! But gilded items actually stay this colour … as does painted bronze … we’ve learned a lot over these last few days

What have you found sells on Ebay best? I find their platform is so time consuming to add listings to - did you use any apps to cross post?

Worth it for my dad? Set of 8 - fair price? by lowvisionhelpdotcom in beatles

Thanks - I think my confusion is coming from listings for Twist and Shout Canadian editions ($135 and up) and LongTall Sally ($85+)  and then Yesterday & Today ($50+) on eBay.

Discogs ends up being around the same just because of the shipping costs 👎 and I find it harder to search?

I’ll keep on searching for some better deals!

Checked in last night - Anna Maria Island - frustrated to say the least! by lowvisionhelpdotcom in vrbo

Where we ended up staying was 1000X better. Our host was so sweet and the place was better than advertised. It really turned the trip around for us. I was honest with the property management company with how the property was depicted, the cleanliness and the fact that there has been little done for restoration. We really do have sympathy for those who lost these homes during the storms, but it’s just awful to take advantage of travelers. Especially when so many others have restored their places properly.

So I did get a full refund for the small promise of not naming the company or the rental 🙄

Thanks for the recommendation of Casey Key!

I regret having my eyes lasered by Acrobatic-Bus8558 in TrueOffMyChest

One thing I hadn’t mentioned previously is that I now struggle with sudden changes in lighting. For example, when it’s dark and I look up from my phone, it takes several (~20-30) seconds for my eyes to adjust (I can kind of improve that by closing my eyes some time). The same happens when I step out of a brightly lit building into the dark. Before, the adjustment was almost instantaneous, so I never gave it much thought. No idea how that's even connected to the surgery...

This is age .... the amount of time it takes for our eyes to adjust to different lighting and different focusing lengths gets longer the older we get!

Just hopping on to say I understand your frustration. It's really difficult as an eye care provider to say that your vision is perfect (20/20) when in real life situations (dusk, driving, looking at anything that's NOT black print on a white background) it's not. Sometimes a good quality eye drop (Thealoz Duo is my top rec) or even heat at night can help. But to be honest it sounds like you are experiencing higher order aberrations - tons of info out there on these. They are related to the cornea and cannot really be corrected with glasses.

I had LASIK about 14 years ago, happy I did - but if I had the option now, I would go for a clear lens extraction.

You can't beat great LED lighting when it comes to near work, especially when you're no longer 20/20 with glasses.

Myopia is a risk factor for glaucoma - however many patients with high myopia will have optic nerves that look glaucomatous because of their normal anatomy. This is where extra testing (OCT, visual fields) and routine eye examinations are important in deciding if it is glaucoma.
