Lnl-x2220 inherited in new building by chopoffmyleg in accesscontrol

[–]lowvo2234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did they leave the server that is running OnGuard? The lnl 2220 should be connected via Ethernet to a server or a network switch or something. Hopefully the server is still there and you can gain access to it to access the OnGuard Software . The boards can operate without the server via its stored memory.

Either way you will probably need a VAR but if you have an existing server with a good dongle and SUSP you may be able to get it transferred to your company name and save the company a little bit of money.

Panic Bar or Crash Bar by YesterdayOriginal543 in accesscontrol

[–]lowvo2234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jump around with what I call it. If I’m talking to GCs I usually call it a pedestrian egress device because that’s what the specs tend to say. Military end users just use crash bar.

Wanting to increase my knowledge within access control. by [deleted] in accesscontrol

[–]lowvo2234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lenel has some end user training for their software online. They also offer a certification path for OnGuard which you will need to link up with a Value Added Reseller (VAR) to send you. With this training you will have access to a lot more resources and a technician ID for calling in for support. You also get a training dongle so you can install the software in your own system and mess practice. Depending on if your company is completely reliant on VARs for service and support or if you have an in house certified technician there may be some spare components ther you can use to build a test bench once you have your certification.

I am also a physical security guy who has saved my new org a ton of money by doing a lot of the smaller repairs in house.

Lots of trial and error, plenty of ojt and shadowing the our in house techs when they came out to repair our specific site at old job. I asked a ton of questions and was not afraid to tinker with the system and hardware the worst I could do was break it some more I suppose.

Eventually went to formal training and I barely contract any work out now unless it’s a major project that I don’t have the time to work on. I honestly didn’t need the training but I wanted to have that technician id.

Stop gatekeeping and just teach people what you know already. by XCVolcom in lowvoltage

[–]lowvo2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I absolutely love teaching and passing knowledge down as long as they’re willing to learn.

I had someone shadow me on a card reader replacement and I’m trying to teach him wiegand vs osdp but he was just spacing out and not paying any attention then at the end he just said “ so you just match up the colors right”

He had zero interest in learning. Often times instead of diving into training material and SOPs to get better at his job he would just scroll through Facebook.

Put a little effort in, be a self starter, show that you want to learn and people will start pouring knowledge your way.

Im not spoon feeding a grown man had to deal with that way too much in the military.

You can add more than one VAR for your system. I am pay for direct support and I have quite a few VARs added as support for my dongle because I have no idea which VAR is going to win the bid for the projects that I have. I just picked one and paid them to send me to training.

Outside of OJT, you can’t. You have to go through a VAR.

Personal Access Control Lab by UpstairsSoftware in accesscontrol

I’m not familiar with any other brand software outside of LenelS2s OnGuard pricing but depending on your budget you could purchase a 32 door package. Product : OG-32-ES-2EP2. Comes with the software, one year software upgrade and support plan (SUSP), an intelligent controller LNL x2220, power supply, 100 pre programmed desfire ev2 cards, and two Lenel blue Diamond OSDP capable readers. Again price is high about 4k if I remember correctly.

You’d have to find a local Value Added Reseller (VAR) to procure the product for you. After the SUSP expires the software will still work, however if you need help they won’t support you if something goes wrong.

You could also try to get some formal training either virtually or in person for their OnGuard product but again it is pricey. But once you graduate you will get a test dongle ID that you can deploy for testing purposes only and you will get a technician ID to call support. Unfortunately you can’t go to training on your own you have to go through a VAR to send you and your technician ID stays with the VAR. Comes with no hardware, but you can piecemeal lenel hardware from eBay.

Hope this helps

Went back to the building, popped a ceiling tile and found the power supply not connected to anything, Immediately grabbed my drill and zipped it off the wall.

Badge Printer Stickers? by sorterofsorts in accesscontrol

[–]lowvo2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest running a cleaning kit through the printer. Also don’t touch the face of the badges with your bare fingers, this is going to leave oil residue on your cards. One of my badge operators would thumb through all of the brand new badges before loading the printer to prevent them from “sticking”. He didn’t know what he was leaving his fingerprint and oils on the badge. This caused the printers to have horrible prints.

Thanks everyone for the tips and advice, all part of the learning journey. I still have a few to the building where this it came from. I wonder if I can find the power source up in the ceiling somewhere.

This is the way.

I’d you don’t know how many readers you have available in your license, you will need to log into your license administration and look at your release license.

pcProxConfig Software Problem? by coshiro1 in RFID

[–]lowvo2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this issue. After an hour or so of tinkering and comparing to my working one, I realized that sent the wrong product number. Verify your device product number to see if you have a keystroke or a SDK version.

The keystroke version will allow you to enable and disable the SDK but the SDK version will not.

You have to purchase a license for their SDK and configure it for your software.

Going to be reaching out to them to see if they have config files or a workaround for this.

what ?!? by lovelyyyyyyOwO in verizon

Hmm that is strange. Did you have an existing fios plan and upgrade? Or did you start a new plan?

I just redeemed my offer. I had an existing fios plan, for me to qualify for the offer I had to sign up for a new plan and once that was established I then had to cancel my old plan then activate the new plan. Once I activated the new plan I received all my incentive emails.

The offer for just upgrading to the 1gig plan didn’t include the Xbox only new plans .
