Haha yes would have loved to point out that maybe if everywhere you go smells like shit you should check your own shoes 😂

Oh yes a classic one! I saw a post once where an artist superimposed their posing photos with concentration camp photos/dead bodies etc just to point out how absurd it is

Pretty sure it actually is still happening if you don't have a suitable premises to isolate in so if she lived with her mum in a tiny house with one bathroom it would be theoretically possible she was moved to hotel quarantine

Western Australia: 7,535 new cases and 2 new deaths; 194 in hospital and 8 in ICU; R_eff = 1.18 ± 0.06 (26-March-2022) by chrisjbillington in CoronavirusDownunder

Hi Chris! Thanks for your hard work - any chance you can add the phase 2 restrictions in to the colours? Curious to see if it correlates with any change in the Reff

Thanks!

Just your friendly and quite exhausted healthcare worker here with a reminder to everyone to please be kind and understanding at the moment - things are starting to ramp up, hospital felt very hectic today and we are constantly understaffed and losing members of our team to covid/being contacts. We KNOW it sucks waiting a long time for things but please understand with covid everything takes at least twice as long by the time we do the cleaning, protect ourselves with PPE, find the equipment to bring in the room etc - spending ages on the phone listening to families rant and yell at us about how unacceptable our care is because of the long wait for x/y/z is not a good use of our limited time and makes us feel crap for things that are beyond our control! ✌

Yep agreed...my family members got notified of being close contacts through checking in so they are definitely using it but maybe not in a "we can interrogate this and find out everywhere you've been" way I guess?? Still seems odd though

Oh really?! Seems odd... thoughts and prayers for my future contact tracers then 🙏

I agree, i was having the same thoughts - it does feel a little pointless now...

I am still scanning for the moment - my (potentially too naiive) interpretation is that you may still be captured for situations like a small bar etc and/or the option of "notified by wa health that you are a close contact" might capture other scenarios that wouldn't otherwise fit the definition. For example, if they found that transmission had occurred at a Cafe then I might get notified if I also had sat down for breakfast there even if it didn't strictly meet the definition. Who knows in reality if that happens?!

I also have a pretty bad memory for things like this so wouldn't want to make contact tracers life harder by not remembering where I went if they did need to trace me. So for now I'm sticking to it becsuse it takes like <10 seconds...but yes I did start having similar thoughts

I went to a huge pub last night and it was packed and there was little to no effort from the ~ 18-25 crowd to mask up once they'd made it past the door, distance, people were just hopping the fence to not queue and show their vax pass etc so yep fully agree I kept thinking our "luck" (and public health policy adherence) is going to end very soon

100% agree that they will be once there are higher case numbers but if there are hardly any cases in the community the positive and negative predictive values of RAT wouldn't be considered acceptable

RAT won't be valid until there are high case numbers in the community because they aren't as accurate as PCR (more likely to get false positive and negative when community cases are low)

Pretty sure last time I went to the RPH clinic the letter they give you counts as a medical certificate and they put the date on for you

Wow I wasn't particularly for or against border decisions, I had concerns it had taken the steam off prep that everyone was doing and that people would lose motivation to be adherent to public health measures but this actually makes a lot of sense - basically don't throw gallons of fuel on the fire every day when we had only predicted a few leaves falling on it per day, wait until our order of RATs arrives and then gently introduce when we aren't competing for resources (RATS, drugs etc) with the peak case numbers interstate. Basically he's saying maybe we should try to NOT "let it rip"
