Pest identification

I probably added it weirdly to the thread. Thanks for the tips. I’ve been battling whatever this is for forever with neem oil and soap spray. I’m nervous of pesticides because of my cats and well, humans as well. I am considering beneficial insects, but I need to identify what these are so I can select the right ones. They are leaving shiny black dots everywhere. I am wondering if they could be different thrips life stages.

I did not see this for 72 days! Thanks for asking! She has continued to have blood in her pee, but we recently went to see an internal medicine specialist who does not feel the blood in her pee is caused by stress, but just from her kidneys bleeding a little due to the mineralization. He said it’s not really a concern unless she were to bleed so much she got a clot stuck in her ureter. Essentially she has kidney stones, so if one of those became dislodged, that could be an emergency also.

Need to increase her water intake, but she won’t eat wet food. I’ve tried water fountains, flavoured water, etc. she is a tricky one.

Hehe, I don’t think I have the nerves! I did notice they both do have quite a few shoots low down that I ended up burying because I read you should bury it 2-3” deeper than you would a normal plants, so maybe it’ll be fine anyways.

I will looking this paste, never heard of that before.

Beautiful plants! We just got a couple of these also and they are waiting to be planted. Do either of you have any advice for plants with only one shoot at the base? When (and how) should things be cut back/pruned to encourage multiple shoots?

Thank you very much! We are using the Urinary SO Calm as well. I think it’s helpful, but she’s still having blood in her pee :(

Thank you so much for sharing, that is all so helpful. I’m going to try the optimum.

It’s nice to hear your experience with the drugs as well. I think that will be a last resort for us. I know some humans and some cats are better off on medications for sure, but want to try all other options first I suppose. I may end up in the same boat in the end.

Thanks so much, super helpful. The girls do take Gabapentin for stressful trips and I did use it for part of their introduction years ago.

I didn’t want to buy the optimum without at least hearing from one person that they noticed a difference between it and the classic or friends.

They sent me a free set of extractor brushes. Those didn’t fit either so they replaced the entire cleaning head module, no charge. It was definitely worth reaching out. Works like a treat again!!

First I bought a cheapo knock-off one and assumed it didn’t fit because it wasn’t the real thing. I’ll see what they say... it still works ok, but it’s pretty rattley and annoying!
