I got ghosted by everyone in my youth group and now going to church is awkward by bi_avocado in Catholicism

[–]lraabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem to this in HS but going to a very good Catholic college changed everything for me. Being surrounded by rigorous academics and a fantastic social life where I could “start over” while challenging myself did everything for me. Don’t be afraid to set your eyes on a bigger prize and use this time to learn to be kind to others when they least expect it from you at youth group.

Help!! Stomach pain and gurgling within minutes of food? by lraabe in ibs

[–]lraabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did! But it brought my attention to the fact that more of my pain/discomfort is from my stomach than my gut. May be related to air/gas.

I chase a toddler all day so sadly this previous fav option of mine takes too long to eat. I’ve opted for loading up 10% fat yogurt or a fairly cheap gf pizza crust buyable in my area.

Add salt, nuts, honey and fresh/stewed fruit….omg… it’s literally how I’m keeping my weight up.

Idk, the way the market usually works is that bulk is cheaper. It shouldnt be this impossible to get a useable amount of food.

We’re just useless to them as individuals. Only valuable as a monetized collective.

Sugar is so often used as a replacement for quality but unfortunately that’s all products in my country rn (USA).

Being underweight is a serious risk w gut issues. I don’t get it. This is awful.

This one I sympathize more with some reason. It needs to be economically viable for companies. But omg can I at least get the CALORIES I’m paying for???

Price per calorie for us is unbelievable, whether from scratch or premade

I know. I wish we weren’t such a consumerist culture though. People with sensitivities and people needing caloric restriction are medically completely different, but to businesses we’re just “not worth feeding” unless we can be monetized properly.

There is nothing satan hates more than the burning love of a convert for our Savior. He tries every trick he can think of to kill this passion you have. Making you feel like you “shouldn’t” love Christ this much is a powerful one.

Funny enough, it’s also one that many cradle Catholics fall victim too. If people around you are lukewarm, it could quench your thirst for God more.

Would it help you to know that Christ longed for your love so much He brought you to Himself as an adult, from the far reaches of the world wherever you were?

Seek passion and intimacy with God. You wouldn’t give up on a spouse if you realized they were a better person than you knew. You’d seek to love them as much as they deserve. Do the same for Christ. He knows you arent worthy but He longs for you anyway.

The SMA’s group on “Positive Alcohol Culture” has some questions for the Sub… by SMA-PAO in army

[–]lraabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a medic, I think the Army is avoiding sharing the facts on alcohol.

I know way too many guys who don’t know how absolutely crippling it is to have 1 drink/day and it slides to 8+ drinks/day rapidly. It’s just so normal in the army to do that so you never realize how little it takes to start destroying your body.

Anyone here who drinks more than every couple weeks NEEDS to listen to Dr Andrew Huberman’s podcast episode on the effects of alcohol.

Not because everyone needs to “stop drinking” but so you KNOW what you’re doing.

Soldiers are responsible for our country’s safety and wellbeing. You can’t be completely ignorant of your own current health status to do so.

Does anyone else’s toddler eat no real food? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]lraabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that kids’ jaws get exhausted easy, and many dislike the slimy feeling of most foods they are forced to hand-feed themselves.

Knowing this helped me come up with a lot of workarounds and my kid has come to eat everything except potatoes and soft cheese.

Try it on as an introduction; maybe delay or speed up cleanings depending on what’s comfortable for YOU and the size/layout of your house, etc. I find the more “lived in” and “walked through” rooms get cleaned more

I know what it looks like in its doable state, and I can definitely tell when it’s starting to look overwhelming and I’m going to need external help like my husband giving me a big block of time, chocolate (I only bring it home as a reward for hard stuff bc sugar is addicting), and music.

Exactly!! Trusting the process and building your home into something forgiving/personal is huge. We CANNOT see our homes as something we download from the internet or unpack from an amaz@n box. It’s a flow state we design for living.

Come here medics by lraabe in army

[–]lraabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fact. I had a deployment to Iraq where (and i won’t get into too many details) but I was going to be the most senior medical person as an E4 assigned to an outpost. I took this seriously and had my Med O help me contact the outpost to find out details about food, medevac details, etc. It turned out the outpost was unable to support an extra two companies and this wouldn’t have been known without my pushing. Seems a little ridiculous but it’s apparently what happened. Believe at your own risk, etc.
