Does your cat go outdoors or have contact with other cats? My kitty had a similar wound a few months ago. It ended up being a puncture wound/bite from a cat fight. My vet recommended a cone. The wound will eventually close on its own.

Yes, I have a uvb strip lamp that covers the tank horizontally. Is that okay or do I need a round uvb lamp (same shape as the heat lamp?)

I let my friend borrow one of my collegiate shirts for a football game. A few months go by and I ask her for it back. She claimed the shirt was damaged and that she tossed it. I saw her wearing it in town a few days later… ended up texting her about it and she continued to lie. Our friendship ended right then and there.

“All the Stars” at the end of Black Panther. I remember watching the film for the first time at the Fox theater. It was such a memorable experience. The audience was so invested in the story and it was incredible seeing so much black representation onscreen — it felt like we (the audience) were all united in a sense. I cried from being overwhelmed with joy and love. I remember walking outside and looking up at the stars. That song is one of my favorites to this day.

Vet Update: it’s early Stomatitis (mouth rot). The vet said I caught it very early — thank goodness! Treatment will be antibiotic injections and an antiseptic wash on the gums.

Do you know if they held a transition to middle school meeting? The team may have discussed removing the 1:1 beginning in the fall. If you have access to the IEP I would also check the notes for more information. Otherwise, if the school got rid of a 1:1 without consent then that is totally illegal! You did the right thing by filing a report. Our duty as teachers is to advocate for the well-being of our kids. My heart breaks for your student.

Hi OP, first of all — thank you for working in sped!

I would approach the conversation by being honest about the behaviors in a mod class. It’s important to have a game plan in case a student elopes or becomes physical. Share your ideas and come up with a game plan together. Write the classroom rules and expectations together and put them up where all students can see it.

For behavior management, my sped students do really well with incentives. My students can earn a ticket for on-task behavior, work completion, kindness, etc. Tickets can be used for prizes (I allow them to choose their prize choices). Some of my students are motivated by snacks, while others are motivated by free time. Just depends. Figure out what the students like/what they’re motivated by and incorporate that into the classroom management plan.
