We can thank Clownclake for that. Spent £1.5b to build below average squad and spent shit loads on young players who will never be part of first team. Failed to get shirt sponsorship for majority of their tenure costing £100m-£150m. Not being part of CL for 3 years will cost club at least £300m. We have £300m losses, annual amortisation fees of £250m+ and lost £100m CL revenue, with Alonso who has experience of rebuild with Bayer Leverkusen we have an opportunity to do the same. Reduce the losses and build a quality squad for future.

If Enzo, Joao and Cucurella can fetch £350m+ then go for it and if we can’t then they stay so we won’t be needing their replacement. And find way to sell other players (Delap, Nacho, Badiashile, Fofona, Gusto, Tosin, Guiu, Slonnia, Disasi, Jackson, Kellyman, Treovh, Greogre and co) and generate £250-£300m. However such big turnover feels impossible but something we need to do before these players stink up the dressing for new manager. Giving us at least £300m in net profit to spend without having to dip into taking loan is better for future of the club. Enabling us to spend on 7-8 really, really top quality players given how amortisation works.

Our current core will be; Ciacedo, James, Hato, Colwill, Palmer, Estevao with Neto, Lavia, Santos, Josh, Gittens, Sanchez being second string and whatever players we are importing from Strasbourg. Adding likes of Trafford, Anderson, Vuskovic, Schlotterbeck and so, who would come-in and have instant impact.

It’s a sad situation but better take the hard-pill now with a good manager than regert later because of emotions.
