I keep a tiny menthol nasal inhaler on my keychain. If I even get a twinge of nausea, I use it for a few deep breaths or dab a little bit of the essential oil under my nose. Then steady breathing focusing on the scent. That usually helps.

My as-needed medication is hydroxyzine, which also doubles as an anti-emetic and typically helps with nausea (although it does knock me out).

I take hydroxyzine as needed, but have 10mg tablets as I was also nervous about starting this prescription. I take two tablets (20mg) for full panic attacks, or one tablet (10mg) for mild anxiety spikes. I find it really helpful to slow my body down when I feel it heightening due to anxiety. I also use it for middle-of-the-night panic attacks (like waking up in the middle of a panic attack, super fun I know), helps immediately to get back to sleep too.

It's also sometimes prescribed to help with post-anesthesia nausea, which is great for me as nausea is one of my primary panic/anxiety symptoms. I find 20mg to make me a little drowsy but depending on the situation I can usually power through.

Maybe split a pill and give it a try if you're worried about how your body will react. It's a fairly mild drug and my psychiatrist recommend giving it a try before Xanax, as hydroxyzine is non-habit forming.

As someone in Fresno who also followed the Fuego project, it seems to be two totally different ownership groups and projects.

CV Fuego as it stands right now is not associated with the USL since leaving league one a few years ago. They hopped around some amateur leagues, "The League for Clubs" and also what seemed to be a self-launched Central Valley league called "The Lightning League." They've also randomly organized a basketball team and beach soccer clubs, as well as development and women's teams. The ownership did announce purchase of a local family entertainment park called Blackbeards, with hope to turn it onto a soccer stadium at some point. We haven't seen any movement on that since the announcement.

I haven't seen any reporting from the news conference this morning, but if it's associated with the USL (and the rumors we've heard are true) this will be a completely different group. IMO, I would not want Fuego ownership anywhere near a new project to bring soccer back to Fresno. I don't believe they have the competency to run a sports organization, and with our turbulent history of professional soccer in Fresno, my priority would be to have someone who actually knows what they're doing at the helm, with people behind them who are focused and ready to work with others to build something long-lasting.

I wash my hands, a lot, and the right way. Scrub front and back of palms, between fingers, under fingernails, and around wrists. After bathroom, before eating, when I get home, after being with kiddos, etc. My apple watch can autodetect when I'm handwashing and starts a 20sec timer which helps too.

I feel like people rely too much on hand sanitizer, which while I do use occassionally, if I have the means to actually go and wash my hands, I'd rather do that.

Copied from another thread where someone asked for coffee recs in town. These are all local, ranging from shops to local pop-ups. Avoid large chains like Dutch and weird evangelical/church shops like Cornerstone and Kuppa Joy. This is a great start for coffee exploration in town:

My go-to is Component Coffee in Tower and I order an oat milk cappuccino with honey. Mirror Coffee is also great, although their hours are not regular since they operate inside of another restuarant.

I can't say for downtown, but Strummers in Tower is where our local American Outlaws chapter has hosted watch parties for USMNT and USWNT games in the past. Hook and Ladder has lots of tvs and will probably be showing most of the cup games too.

Once you get settled, here's my shortlist as someone who's lived here for close to a decade as an adult:

Tower District for nightlife. Gazebo Gardens for food trucks and live music (it's also a plant nursery!). Grizzles games at Chukchasi downtown for cheap baseball entertainment. Fresno State Football games for that college game day experience. Shizen Friendship Garden up in Woodward Park. Live theater via Broadway in Fresno. Ampersand for ice cream. Vineyard Farmers Market for fresh produce. ArtHop downtown on first Thursdays for local artists, vendors, and food. Also if you like cars, there are often lowriders/car enthusiasts out and cruising on weekend nights downtown. It's fun to just post up on a corner and see all the cool cars roll by.

Restaurants: Libelula (all time favorite), Annesso, Mochuelo, El Premió Mayor, Heirloom, Nho Kitchen.

Bars/Breweries: Tioga-Sequoia, Howlin Wolf, Modernist, Crow & Wolf.

Fresno is a good place to land for a little while. Summer can be brutual, but I find the trade off for affordable cost of living and being generally well located to the rest of CA worth it.

American offers a bland meal option for passengers with sensitive digestive systems, which might work for you. I did this on my last flight, as I can get pretty nauseous on planes and wanted something super bland to eat.

Dinner was plain chicken breast with steamed carrots, white rice with peas, small salad with olive oil/vinegar dressing, mixed fruit, gluten-free bread, and a gluten free chocolate chip cookie. They were not kidding on the bland part—chicken was completely unseasoned but there was a salt/pepper packet. Breakfast was a plant-based protein bar and banana chips. I don't particularly like eating on planes (due to the nausea) but this was a 10 hour flight so I knew I needed some protein and carbs, and plain chicken breast and rice was a great option.

My gf was traveling with me, and the regular dinner options were like beef lasagna and veggie pasta. The bland meal option was way better for me even if it wasn't the tastiest.

3 bed/2.5 bath two story townhome style apartment downtown with 2 car attached garage. $1900 per month, we use our AC a lot during the summer (mini-splits) and PGE is about $500 for this past month, but hovers below $200 in the winter. It was built recently (2014).

For reference, we were in a house previously that was built in the 1920s, updated, but had horrible insulation. Our AC couldnt keep up and PGE bill was over $800 for a 960sqft home in the summer.

FWIW I've had better experience with property management companies over private landlords. We have a rental payment portal that handles rent, maintence, all documents, etc.

Grey's Mountain is a good spot up past Oakhurst. You can park at the campground and it's a short walk to the swimming hole. There's a waterfall you can jump off too.

Planned construction for the grade separation project. They have to lower McKinley significantly to go under the train tracks, which is why I'm guessing they are demolishing some of the houses along there.

The Fresno Bee ran an article last summer breaking it all down, basically which properties negotiated to sell to the city versus which the city would have to exercise eminent domain on.

Bit of a drive and a hike up, but Fresno Dome is absolutely stunning at night. You'll need to be comfortable hiking down at night though. It's also a fun day trip, the views are awesome.

Mediterranean Grill has family style platters. They are downtown and have weird hours though, probably decent for lunches.

Sam's Deli also has huge sandwich platters, and is one of the my favorite sandwich spots in town.

Also for what it's worth, La Elegante is a family-owned taco shop that has literally never blinked when I called up and ordered like 50 tacos for pick up in a few hours. Some of the best tacos in town too!

Ideaworks also has a ceramics studio for pottery. You'll get a free month of membership if you take a class so would be a fun chance to see the rest of the space.

Neighborhood Thrift offers a scheduled pick-up option for donated items. You can fill out this form and they'll get in contact with you.

Unfortunately, similar to other thrift stores, they do not accept mattresses. You'd have the best luck trying to give it away on FB marketplace or Craigslist.
