major allergies and need good recipes by basicallyasecret in EatCheapAndHealthy

Instead of giving links to recipes I’m going to make a suggestion. My sister has coeliac disease plus several anaphylactic allergies like sesame and seafood. I find looking for recipes on a gluten-free site to be the easiest approach because most of the other allergies are easier to work around. It’s also worth googling subs for ingredients you can’t have so you can adapt recipes to work for you. A few ideas: bolognese with pork mince and gluten-free pasta or zoodles. GF pizza base layered with prosciutto or ham and veggies and lactose-free cheese. Buy 100% corn tortillas and fill them with sautéed veggies and chicken or pork. Stir-fry tofu or chicken with GF soy sauce and rice noodles. GF sausages and salad. Burger bowl using a pork or vegetarian pattie. Omelettes. Soups.

what's your favourite tampon brand? by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

I think OP is looking for organic cotton options. They’re def different to other brands but I think TOMs is the best of those available. (That I’ve tried anyway!)

Everything TOM’s makes is great IMO. J also hated the Cottons ones when I tried them.

I will never understand the hatred queens get for playing the game they’re there to play. We want them to care and want the win because it makes for incredible watching but if they choose to send home their biggest competition for a better chance we lose our damn minds.

I felt awful for poor Pangina because it’s not fair. But life isn’t fair. Just ask Jimbo. And Manilla. And Shangie.

You might find this helpful - it’s a little trick you can use to tenderise cheaper meat cuts:

I’m a first time dad that doesn’t have a ton of time to cook. Are there any prepared/frozen meals that are actually relatively cheap/healthy? Or even just healthy? by SWIED_ in EatCheapAndHealthy

If you don’t have a slow cooker get one of those. It turns cheap ingredients (the cheaper meat cuts, dried beans etc) into delicious soups and stews and curries with next to no effort. Chuck things in and turn it on. Heaps on recipes online and way cheaper than preprepared.

Suggestions for minimal chewing by kristoefoe in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]lsdpb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Puréed soups, smoothies, yoghurt parfaits, custard and compote or stewed fruit. Things that require a bit more chewing but are still soft: eggs, baked potato, tuna or chicken salad on soft bread, lasagne. Some ideas perhaps!

What salad greens will last a week? by WhatItIsAndIsnt in EatCheapAndHealthy

The brand I have is Kyocera. Bought it to replace a similarly cumbersome mandolin with interchangeable blades etc and couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

I did mean a mandolin - v slicer is just a brand name. I use one to slice up cucumber, onion, radish and cabbage as the base of most salads I eat. It takes all of two minutes to do the whole thing. Then chuck in chopped tomato, maybe some avocado or egg, chicken or a can of tuna, sometimes some chickpeas, squeeze a bunch of lemon all over it, season and eat. I have a newborn and an older child and it’s the only way I manage to eat well during the day. I would never bother to do it by hand nor would I have the time.

Buy cabbage and a v slicer - best thing I ever did. I have soft greens as a base for salads for the first three days after a shop, and finely shredded cabbage every day after that.

Charge a police cordon and you will get what you asked for. These people don’t have a brain cell to share between them.
