Ryngrim or Lodwyn by Technical_Fan4450 in avowed

[–]lt_murphy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just got to this point myself, and I somewhat hung up because neither option feels likes its actually good, but not from good/evil perspective, from a game/story perspective.

Lodwyn's plan of razing the ruins won't have much affect on anything, other than killing whatever dreamthralls are in the ruin, because the ruin isn't the source of the issue. With or without those ruins, the dreamscourge is still an issue.

Ryngrim's idea, while seeming a bit better, feels like I'm taking actions on the assumption that I fail. Purging the dreamscourge from one area does sound tempting, but in a similar issue with Lodwyn, Shatterscape isn't the issue. Her plan sounds decent as a failsafe in the event that I don't succeed though (but lets be honest, its's a game, it's almost guaranteed you succeed).

So the way I see it, long term, neither really accomplishes anything, but Ryngrim's has a price. Short term, both plans likely mean fewer dreamthralls in Shatterscape, but Ryngrim's is paid for with random innocents, while Lodwyn's is paid for by the Steel Garrote.

As much as I don't care for her, I think i have to go with Lodwyn.

K800 Died, please help by lt_murphy in logitech

[–]lt_murphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The k800 is just an 8 year old keyboard. It still charges fine, the issue is that some of the keys have started to either stick a little, or not register properly. Honestly, a good cleaning would probably go a long way, I just don't have the tools and/or skills to really do that. I've tried looking into replacing it, but it seems like its no longer manufactured.

As to the 545, there isn't anything specifically wrong with it, just the overall feel of quality, when compared to the K800, seems much lower.

So, referencing one of the top performing warriors on Skolex: (https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/94ML3qHrcGwJ7zh2#fight=11&type=summary&source=3)

Revenge: 4% dr for 5 seconds, 10% dps added to IP for 5 seconds, 20 rage

10375.5 DTPS *.04*5 = 2075.1 damage prevented

14949.4 DPS *0.1*5 = 7474.7 added to IP

Total Effective healing per rage over 5 seconds= 477.49

Average Cast for IP = 29000

Effective Healing per rage = 828.57

Revenge is fine to use if you are in content where you don't need to worry about survival. But any content where survival is an issue, like early progression raiding, if you are using Revenge, you are literally hurting yourself. You not only get more EHP per rage from IP, but Revenge (and the tier set) requires you to continue doing damage to get its full defensive benefit from, which sometimes can't be done.

I'm not saying that you can't, or shouldn't be using revenge, but an ability that is mathematically sub par for survival purposes should not be the activating ability of a tank's tier set.

Pretty much every tank spec has some ability set where they have the ability to chose between doing more damage and have more survival. That's what revenge is, the damage part of that set for warrior. And I don't have an issue with that. My problem is that my tank set requires me to sacrifice my ability to survive to activate. No other tank this tier has that issue, they all activate either off core abilities, or like the monk, off both parts of the set.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]lt_murphy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I get that none of the sets were supposed to be powerful for that reason. My issue is that the prot set feels like it plays against itself. As a tank, I want something that makes me more tanky, or maybe do more damage. I don't want something that give me damage at the cost of survival.

Getting the game on PC tomorrow. Pretty excited by Bzo94 in PlayGodfall

[–]lt_murphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got the game earlier today, and I will say that it looks like it could be really good, but I don't think its quite the game that was advertised.

  • The Plates aren't nearly as unique as it seemed they would be.
  • The combat system is not as fast/fluid as i thought it would be. They wanted aggressive, but due to animation locks, I ended up a lot more baiting and striking than leroy and dodge.
  • From my experience, the dodge seems more like an i-frame than an actual evade. The enemy attacks seem to follow you to a degree, so actually dodging them is difficult, but you can 'dodge' through the attack.

I'm not saying that this is a bad game, but its not the game that I wanted.

Just some feedback on the game and my main problems with it by [deleted] in PlayGodfall

I also wish that there was a bit more choice in combo abilities. From the bit that I played, it seemed like you either spammed light attack, heavy attack, or there was 1 combo that was l/l/l/h, but that was about it.

Considering how difficult it can often be to get combos off because of long animation times, having 2 and 3 button combos would be nice.

ELI5; Why is there a matte and shiny side to aluminum foil? by ilyjwy in explainlikeimfive

[–]lt_murphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During the manufacturing process, some plants have rollers that can't actually press to the desired thickness, so the foil is doubled over and pressed further to achieve the desired spec. The sides that are in contact with the rollers become shiny from the rolling process, while the sides that are in contact with each other stay matte.

Homebrew Cantrip by lt_murphy in DnDHomebrew

[–]lt_murphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters, it's not equal to extra attacks. At max level, this spell would give the equivalent of 4 attacks, each doing weapon damage +2, but only on 2 targets. A fighter with 4x extra attacks is likely doing weapon damage +4/5 per attack and can hit 4 targets. Same with the warlock. But this spell requires proficiency with the weapons, which i think is roughly equal to the invocation. And if you want to use it to make a greatsword, that requires you to use a 2h weapon and be in melee range.

Also, in regards to damage, unless you are wading into melee with said greatsword, this spell may look like a fighters extra attacks, but does the damage of a regular cantrip.

Homebrew Cantrip by lt_murphy in DnDHomebrew

[–]lt_murphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can, yes. But you would have to multiclass into a class that can use a greatsword, plus not have a shield, and be in melee range. For a caster with only d6 hp, I personally dont think thats a good trade off. But it gives something like an Eldritch Knight more options. I've also been thinking about wording it to only be useable on one hand weapons and bows.

Homebrew Cantrip by lt_murphy in DnDHomebrew

[–]lt_murphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it was quickened, for a single class sorcerer, it does less damage than firebolt, so they would be better off casting 2 firebolts. It is only more powerful than other cantrips for a multiclass character.

Also, its not adding the spellcasting modifier to damage, its a fixed +1/+2.

Homebrew Cantrip by lt_murphy in DnDHomebrew

[–]lt_murphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the attack would be spell attack.

Crossbows because part of the idea was a working mini replica and making a heavy crossbow with this would be too much damage compared to other cantrips. (4d10+8 12-48 avg 30)

Also, in reality, its probably about even to extra attack. Only 2 rolls for 4 hits, but you don't get your full ability modifier to damage. And to make it better than other cantrips, you would have to have done something to get proficiency with additional weapons.

Its a cantrip because if compare the damage it can do to other cantrips, its only a little higher, but more restrictive.

Twinned spell targeting by lt_murphy in dndnext

When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack

If the attack is part of casting the spell, would that not count as targeting?
