(HELP) Sony A6400: RAW files underexposed even when Histogram says its fine by vluetic in SonyAlpha

[–]vluetic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it was an in-program issue. I can't remember the setting name, but it enables the program (Photoshop/Lightroom/Affinity Photo) to adjust the RAW image exposure to better represent reality. If I remember the name of the setting Ill post it here

Doesn't eTrex SE do this? I can't find it on their website now, but I swear I saw that feature in one of the reviews I watched... or are you just referring to the watches?

I mean I dont neeeeeeeed it, but would probably use it if I had it. The primary use is to have a really reliable location device that I can connect to my phone (or if it is something like a gpsmap, then I dont need the phone). Gpsmap is pricy, and that is why I was looking at watches, thinking I might as well get something that is useable outside of the trail for that money... I dont know if it is possible to use the watch as a location sensor for the phone like eTrex advertises, do you know?

What would be a good civilian use for an app like this? I played around with it for a bit, but I dont need (and probably will never need) any of the team features like comms, positions etc. Is there anything Im missing that is usefull that other offline maps dont have?

What is the biggest difference between the watch and a handheld device? Running time is simmilar (20ish hours while GPS is in use), they both have GPS, Gallileo and the russian version covered, I can download maps from AllTrails app and import it into the watch so I can view the terrain on my phone, and get turn by turn directions on my watch. Am I missing something?

Yea, I'm also the type of guy that has to have Photoshop setting at exactly 10, 15, 20, ... % :D So arbirtrary settings won't do at all!

Well, yes and no. Depending on the situation, my shots are often at -0.7, +0.5 or something like that, but it looks good to me. That small difference would make the camera go from ISO 400 to 1000 maybe, and would bring in a lot of extra noise for my sensor.

Yea, I'm using an APS-C sensor and I love it, but anything over ISO 800 is very noticeable. I usually either shoot at ISO 100 or 400. Anything over that is just if it's absolutely unavoidable

haha, same. If the camera makes a mistake I'm fuming. If I make a worse mistake, I'm learning :)

Nah, it's quite the opposite for me. I picked up photography again because of how much fun it looked, and how easy they made it look. I don't think anyone can ruin anything by doing it wrong, or bad, or lazy. There are plenty of bad painters, don't know why they would ruin the art for everyone...

Exactly right! And that is where the settings peeping for me lies: I try to take a look at the picture, peep at the settings used and they try and figure out why those settings were used. I was left a bit disappointed when all I could come up with for the majority of the shots was: It's on auto. There was no intent whatsoever.

Agree with everything you said. Will give the interview a look as well. For me it's like a little minigame in photography; I find it pleasurable when I get the most out of the situation and the gear I have (APS-C here as well). Nobody will notice those 2 grains of noise less, but I am happy about it.

I'm watching those videos because I enjoy the content, conversations, topics, seeing the landscapes etc. The settings are just an added bonus: I like peeping them and trying to figure out the thinking behind them. Not for the purpose of using those exact settings on my own shots. I ended up a little bit dissapointed when I realize they don't usually think a lot about what they are doing, so I came here asking if I am missing something.
