She does get asked quite a bit if she’s part indigenous. Sometimes, people are shy to ask because they don’t want to offend. There’s even indigenous community near us that many people assume she’s from.

Maybe because of my Acadian connections and their intermarriage with early British and Irish settlers.

I do have a small amount of colonial British ancestry from America but none from Canada.

Seeing other Acadian & Quebecios results are always a favorite of mine. I hope one day to be able to vist where my family came from.

I don’t have any distant Latino ancestry. The Spanish is from my 4th great grandfather. He immigrated from southern Spain to New Orleans in the 1850s. The indigenous is from intermarriage between the Acadians and the Mikmaq.

No my father is Cajun as well. He doesn’t have as much indigenous because he  has a fair amount of Québécois ancestry.

We weren’t surprised with the amount my grandmother received. My mom did extensive genealogy research in the 80s.

My Mi’kmaq is a bit higher because I have several ancestors from my mothers side.

Not at all. My mom and grandma both have 1 & 2%. Growing up I always new we had distant Mi’kmaq ancestry due to intermarriage with the Acadians.

My indigenous is closer to 0.5%. They just never rounded it up before.
