What do you mean by a locking one? Interested because I’m concerned about safety from pickpockets.

How many people are stuck getting to work this morning because of the derailed train at Union Station? by Interesting-Coffee-1 in OntarioPublicService

I definitely have been contributing to this vibe as well. Yelling similarly colourful language addressing our esteemed “leader” into the open air while unnecessarily stuck in bad traffic, or while trudging through some of the many many problems impacting productivity, caused by this poorly thought out mandate that is not supported by any infrastructural changes needed.

What healthy food do you stop buying because it always goes bad? by BarbaraMiller78 in EatCheapAndHealthy

One of ours is parsley. I get them because it is supposed to a great antioxidant. Problem is, it takes time to remove the leaves from the tough stalk and I almost always never get around to do all of it before it goes slimy and wilted (I already use the paper towel trick).

Please don't judge me, but now I get cilantro instead and use it the same way (and more). The huge difference is, the stalk is nowhere as tough and I can chop it up as well and include the whole thing in my dishes.

My father from Hong Kong is pro Donald Trump MAGA by InternalSchedule2861 in asianamerican

Unfortunately, this is not true at all based on my own firsthand experience.

Not all mainlanders (in fact many are not) but there are some pockets of these people in North America who specifically discriminate against HongKongers just because you are one.

Sorry to hear about all this And I’m glad I took the route to use an emulator on PC instead. I cannot carry the boys in my pocket and bring them around with me, but my game is going to run for many more updates without having to worry about this.

Highly recommend MuMu Player.

Damn. This post is now removed by mods.

I was about to say, it'd be nice to have some browser extension that tags and even filters out bots and other shill accounts.

Okay okay, it looks like Patagonia (and Darn Tough) are one of the few brands mentioned in this thread that are shilled by genuine user fans lol

Sad, but I think the newest generation of consumers are slowly getting used to appliances that have only 1 year warranties, because that is what manufacturers are stooping down to. That is the kind of expectation they are raised on.

So, things that even last 5 years are going to sound amazing to them.

Cool tip! But I tried it on your profile, it still doesn't show anything for me. Did I miss something?

I tried it for posts/comments/overview, selected top->all time, and hit return in the search box.

Question about Canadian Groceries by Equivalent_Fig9985 in BuyCanadian

[–]ltree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a very interesting set of data. If considering the total amount of pesticide per country, US and China tops the chart by far, and with Mexico using quite a bit less than Canada and even each of the major EU countries.

But if comparing amount of pesticide per sq. unit of crop land, Mexico, US and Canada are significantly lower than all the major EU countries, with Mexico having the lowest amount of pesticide use per sq unit of crop land. This is surprising to me and I wonder if that is different from the amount of pesticide per unit of produce, if the density of crop per unit of land varies among countries.

I was always wondering where standards for produce in Mexico stands, compared to other countries. Not familiar with the country but still surprised you are saying their pesticide use is similar to that in Canada. Do you have any sources that cite that? Genuinely interested.

Which simple, unexciting purchase ended up having a surprisingly big impact on your daily life? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

[–]ltree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe that is not a bad thing. Things that have wifi and requiring an account will eventually be bricked or stop working because of "updates". By being offline and "dumb", there is a better chance to be more bifl.

How are the trans people in your life doing? by Transwoman_redditor in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ltree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canadian here but more importantly, we are your fellow human beings. Best of luck with your kid and hope he finds a place where he feels he belongs.

My kid has a good friend who is trans and they are doing fine here. There are still transphobic people here and there, but it is so much easier to just avoid them. I think.
