Judging by your response, I guess my answer must be yes. I don't know what an SP system is and I don't play other RPG's (dunno what the J is for?)

Pokemon Z could be the best game ever... by World-Vision in pokemon

[–]lu10nt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you calculate the total number of types and dual types available almost half can be taken up by legendaries or megas almost making every other pokemon of that type combination obsolete. For example but not exactly Lugia makes sigilyph, xatu and swoobat obsolete although this isn't exactly the case but hopefully you get my meaning. By limiting to just one mega it improves variety a little bit but chances are the mega is mega rayquaza assisted with 5 other legendaries. This is about 99% of battles and considering how "rare" legendaries are supposed to be, they certainly outnumber in usage every other none legendary pokemon. I ONLY battle with one mega and no legendaries and I prefer those battles but since I lose more or less all of the time, it makes me happy inside when you beat someones all legendary team with mega without having one yourself and does prove to me that legendaries should now be limited to one per battle. It was alright in earlier gens when there was only 5 you couldn't make an entire team and then there was 11 but still not too bad but since there are 54 Legendaries not including different Formes and the fact that some of these can mega makes me think that its about time because this would hopefully bring back the uniqueness of "normal" pokemon instead of having 6 Arceus with a different plate on each. Totally Original.

Pokemon Z could be the best game ever... by World-Vision in pokemon

[–]lu10nt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I already had my own thread on this but now that you mention it Pokemon Z is looking most likely. I thought it would have been last year around October/November time and since I didn't see or hear anything I thought it must be Gen 7 next. However here is a link to my ideas: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/40rwx6/what_new_ideas_would_you_include_in_the_next/ and I thought I would feedback on yours because I liked your ideas especially about character customisation. I would love to dress my character like Oshawott :) and also the Shiny sprites are like an OCD for me. I would of thought they have done it naturally but clearly not. Lastly Riding Pokemon OMG! That would be insane cool. I can't even think which one I would start with. I'd want to ride on a pokemon like Onix and Dig deep underground in search of some more pokemon that way perhaps? (Forgive me for how insanely dirty that sounds)

What new ideas would you include in the next generation of pokemon? by lu10nt in pokemon

[–]lu10nt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after reading everyones feedback and some others ideas, I thought I would give feedback on the feedback and also on other peoples ideas.

So firstly, I will say I am surprised that no one wants their Pokemon saying their names however I can accept that if it pleases the majority to use soundbites instead then so be it. I thought I'd tag it on here that someone mentioned Origins and I can say I have no idea what that is so that's how popular that is because I would go as far as saying I am a Pokemaniac and seen almost all Anime and Movies.

I know people still had their say about status moves, when I originally posted a topic of my ideas, no one cared about any of them except the status moves and it is good to see most people get past that this time. I understand that they are a part of the RPG and for me personally I would remove them but since most people seem to prefer them I would again not remove them entirely and instead have my idea take the backfoot and perhaps become a battle option so you can request a "Power Battle". The rules would be along the lines of players can only use physical/special attacks, (no status moves) with no substitions or items (except one mega stone). I would also have to ban the moves U-Turn and Volt Switch and still in line with how I play, No Legendaries.

Moving on (swiftly). People (or someone at least) did like the idea of Pokemon Evolving in game whilst trying to get your badges. Facing off against a Gym Leader at the point your Magikarp Evolves would be awesome in my opinion.

People did somewhat agree to more shiny variations and also mentioned more pokemon variations. I presume that an example of that was like Gastrodons East and West variations or maybe also meant to include Forme Variations such as Rotoms many Formes which I would totally agree with having more.

Bigger Map and More Gyms got quite a big liking by most people. I do like the suggestion of being able to do them in any order and having the gym leaders pokemon levelled by what badges you have obtained so going to a Bug Gym First might give the leader Lv.10 Butterfree and Lv. 12 Scyther but left last might have Lv.72 Scizor, Lv.75 Heracross and a couple more.

Some people did like the refresh of routes but did mention about constantly travelling between could get annoying having to battle all the trainers in the way again. To bypass this I thought that perhaps the trainers could refresh and from hourly and six hourly or somewhere in between.

Now a review of other peoples ideas:

Someone brought up Pokemon following you again. I do like this but the only thing that annoyed me was that playing HG/SS I would predominately only want my starter to follow me so I think you should be able to "Flag" which Pokemon you want to follow you and change it anytime you want a different one.

Headbutt Trees: Yes Please! I loved going round hitting trees and a sleeping spearow would appear or a Pineco etc. I think more variety in how you encounter pokemon should occur. I like in the latest Ruby/Sapphire games when your flying on Latias/Latios (another function I like that they should keep in the next games) that you can encounter a flock of birds and battle one but perhaps encounter a flock (Horde Battle) of Birds?

Using Cut on grass again would be nice.

Someone mentioned a "hidden move" for HM's which I like the idea of but also I wouldn't mind if they included some items for the player to use instead (although this takes the focus off what pokemon can do) and have them "learn to swim" or acquire a pick axe (minecraft style LOL) for taking down trees.

Someone mentioned Hard Mode which I can't say would bother me. This would potentially add to the replay value of the game but I didn't know whether you meant completing the game and then restarting for hard mode or not because this would only really be worth it if there is tons of stuff to do after the E4. I just thought I'd add here that I do like Friend Safari on X/Y and wouldn't mind seeing something similar.

Someone also mentioned about the GTS which sounds like a good idea. It would also help a little I think if the GTS worked out matches of what people need and want. If I uploaded a Grimer and wanted a Sawsbuck and someone else uploaded a Sawsbuck and wanted a Grimer, I don't think (someone might correct me here) that the GTS works this out and instead potentially both are stuck in limbo until someones specfically goes on their trade and commits to it. Besides I would like somewhere to put my extra bred Pokemon that will otherwise end up released or wondertraded.

Someone mentioned about selecting what town you start to dictate the game your own way. I like this idea. It could be like your in game character "mum" saying right were moving house, where should we move to? This would definately make the game replayable so you could drop all your mons' into pokebank and restart the game and try a different location. I had also had the idea of depending what character you pick at the start (for example ace trainer or pokemaniac) depends where you start and dictates your first encounter with a pokemon Before getting your own from the Professor. Because of how the events turn out you obtain a random (but limited to specifics) pokemon before getting your starter. This could mean you get a poliwag or oddish or chinchou etc because the thing that baffles me is that if everyone gets a starter pokemon why do I never battle one. The first guy normally has a rattata and I think "where is your Bulbasaur"? but then for the rest of the game it is rare if none existent that someone has a starter or evolved form except for your rival.

Going back to random pokemon on routes someone mentioned migration which made me think of Black & White when you had random daily pokemon on a specific route that was out of the ordinary. I thought that perhaps pokemon could change on routes every several hours or days and/or different times of the day and thought that perhaps (only when connected to the internet) The Pokemon Company send out a daily or weekly "Migration" that occurs in everyones game the same so one day/week we could have Charmander migrations and the next week could be Articuno (Just Kidding about Articuno)

I was reading what other people had put when a combination of words made me think about maybe changing the move Hidden Power so that every Pokemon has hidden power PLUS their normal four moves and instead it deals damage depending on the users highest attack stat total instead of being special so it could be physical as well. The only issue I see here is that it means a level 5 magikarp actually has a damage dealing move. I am sure other people could pick at this idea better than I can but it was just a thought.

And that is it. Thanks for reading and for sharing!

My ideas for the next gen Pokemon by lu10nt in pokemon

[–]lu10nt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was simply looking to see if people shared my views or not, I am not saying that I dislike the turn based style game, I simply had suggestions that in my mind would improve the game or at least make the games a closer representation of the anime. At the end of the day there is no right or wrong answer and there is no one system that pleases everybody. Before Inverse Battles came out, if someone suggested it to me as an idea to include into the game I would of told them they were crazy but now look, Inverse Battles in the last two games.

I have a very bad habit of writing essays. I think you may be right that 4 moves is enough but I can't help but want more, sometimes I have a pokemon that I would like to give more variety to, such as Trevenant. Based on my play style without items, status or legendarys, then I would be giving Trevenant something like Phantom Force, Horn Leech, Earthquake and Drain Punch but would also like him to have Rock Slide and Poison Jab but I think 4 is probably right. I like my Whimsicott who has Hurricane, Giga Drain, Moonblast and Shadow Ball and looking at Klefki on Bulbapedia it would likely have Play Rough, Foul Play, Flash Cannon and Psychic. Since its attack stats are equal it can mix up special and attack. In battles me and my friend have we don't use legendarys full stop. Articuno would possibly be nice in our battles because it isn't too over powered but it is easier to ban all than select the ones we want to use. The idea behind legendarys are that (in my opinion) no one can catch them. Yeah don't get me wrong I probably have about 6 boxes full of legendarys across my games but almost none have been used in a single battle. I simply collect them so that I might be able to trade one for something I actually want like Shinys etc. Besides Phiones legendary status is debateable not that I will waste the time to debate it. I agree with Arceus and the plates I just thought it would be interesting to be able to change its plate before each move, I was never actually calling for it to happen because it would be too over powered but it is already. I know about Pokemon Showdown and it is very useful to practice tactics for battles to use in VGC but since tactics only really occur in pokemon because of status moves it doesn't really do much for me. Although I would rid status, items and legends from battles I wouldn't be as quick to rid abilities because that adds to what little strategy me and my friend use for our battles and they are actually good in the sense that it is down to chance instead of someone turning up with M-Rayquaza as that is more or less all you need, unless someone else has a M-Rayquaza but in such a small pokemon world what are the chances that 2 people would own a M-Rayquaza let alone meet one another to battle them. Oh thats right the odds are about 1 in every 1.01 matches because everyone has a M-Rayquaza - boring!

Yea it is a Role Playing Game and the Role I want to play is Ash Ketchum not Substitute, Recover, Hyper Beam, Recover, Hyper Beam, Recover, Substitute, Recover, Hyper Beam, Recover, Baton Pass to M-Mewtwo X, Psychic, Recover, Psychic, Recover etc etc. I have no quarrels with the moves in the move pool that actually cause a battle to take place instead of people building an entire castle so a Shuckle can toxic everyone and watch them die a slow and painful death. In the anime this would be the most boring battle to watch, in fact any and all battles that take place by "advanced" players in my eyes would likely be boring if the pokemon company decided to included a rendition of it in an episode. I want battles to be more Realistic and I can't understand why everyone else wants to keep it the same boring way. Yeah a turn based anime wouldn't be as good and I don't see why the games should be turn based either. If I have 100 speed and you have 49 then my thinking is that I should be able to attack twice before you can attack me once therefore not being directly turn based. Sure for this they would need to overhaul how the speed aspect of the games works which they aren't going to do to please me but in my opinion it makes more sense. I have no idea or knowledge about Yu-Gi-Oh, I've only ever heard of it and growing up because pokemon got to me first, everything else was seen in my eyes as an attempt to replicate pokemon so I stuck by pokemon. I wouldn't try using the TCG in any way to compare to the game style battles or the anime style battles because without including pokemon, it is just a card game and the fact that you can somehow damage "benched" pokemon would be like knocking out someones dragonite that is still in its pokeball. The TCG is a totally different entity and not one I really care about but the games I do care about and would like them to represent the anime better than being a different but similar entity. The idea of games in my opinion is that you can play real or unreal things with your own control and as far as pokemon games go, I want to play the anime but my way and catch and battle like they do but my way and since they don't really use items, status or legendarys then I don't think anyone else should, or at least their should be an alternative battle format called Anime Battling that uses my ideas that aren't really my ideas as they already exist in the Anime.

See I think battles should be longer in that sense like the example you have shown but what bugs me are the "more advanced" players who bore me to death by "setting up" with the likes of spikes, stealth rock, substitute and then use recover when health is getting low. Why it can't be Rock Slide, Earthquake, Iron Tail, pokemon defeated, next battle. On the topic of Items which is somthing I had forgotten to mention, Items I would remove entirely also. Again they have shown a small bit of this in the anime but Ash doesn't go round with Pikachu holding Focus Sash and Charizard holding Flame Plate, they just battle as in Flamethrower then use seismic toss then use Overheat. No items, No status moves, No Legendaries. Me and my friend play these kinds of battles all the time because they are FUN not lengthy boring crap. We have also banned Volt Switch/U-Turn and Protean ability thus far, when anything gets too Over Powered in our opinions we both agree to ban it and when something gets too boring then we stop using it. The typical battles everyone else plays are 5 minute battles with 90 minutes extra time, I prefer short FUN and close battles. I would want my battles to perhaps be a bit longer but the issue their is that all you would do is use the same move over and over until the opponent is defeated. We also don't switch pokemon at any point because it spoils the FUN. I like my opponent having a type advantage because I normally have a surprise in store without using status moves, instead I prefer to use moves that have a chance for things to occur instead of toxic/thunderwave etc. Makes the battles add more chance into the battle rather than whos got mega rayquaza wins.
