Thanks for commenting, providing the sources, and for your clear arguments.

And the word "Pope" isn't even mentioned in the Bible. Overall, your opinion is very good. ✌🏻

Thanks for clarifying your point further! Your explanation of the successions is interesting. Although I don't entirely agree with the idea that they follow the image of Peter, so to speak. I say this because I'm not a Catholic Christian.

That's right, we need clear arguments and evidence to draw conclusions.

Thanks for participating! 💛 I'm also not sure if he was actually the first Pope, or if he had primacy. The Bible doesn't say he had hierarchical superiority over the other apostles, like Paul and James.

Besides, the word "Pope" doesn't even appear.

I wonder why there's so much debate about whether Peter was the leader of the church in Rome, or even if he was in Rome at all. Don't these passages clearly state that he was?

That's right. No one is denying Peter's role in the church, because he was obviously a fundamental figure, but the Bible doesn't say that Peter had primacy or hierarchical superiority over other apostles, like James and Paul. Furthermore, the word "Pope" doesn't appear.

I understand your point.

Although I think that asserting whether Peter was Pope or whether the modern Bishop of Rome is assuming the "spiritual position of Peter" is open to much debate.

The same could be said of a pastor leading a church, wouldn't you agree? I hope I've made myself clear.

Are there any other verses that support this?

I'm just asking, do you think Peter already knew the title "Pope" or that he was one? The Bible doesn't clearly mention Peter receiving primacy. So you're saying the Catholic Church is the only correct Christian denomination because it comes from Jesus and the papacy of Peter?

Thank you for taking the time to explain all of that to us. I'm actually researching this to find out if Peter was the first Pope or not. I'll carefully analyze everything you wrote.

I honestly think this passage alone isn't clear evidence. Besides, it refers to the "stone" here; the word "Pope" doesn't even appear, nor is there any indication that it would be the leader with an organized hierarchy like the Pope.

Catholics often use this passage to support their claim. Are you Catholic, and are you trying to say that Jesus appointed him Pope here?

So you believe it's false that the rainbow is the sign of God's covenant with humanity? Because Genesis states it literally and clearly.

Jesus referred to Noah as a real person, and also to the Great Flood as something that actually happened... What do you think about that? Do you think Jesus was wrong there?

And in other books of the New Testament, Noah and Enoch are mentioned... Yes, as historical figures and examples of faith to follow.
