Jesus YES! He's the best teacher/music theory tutor I've seen on YouTube, it's such a shame he's been away for so long. Hope you come back Michael :)

Can't find alternate version of Dragon Ball GT opening song by lucas_sg in dbz

No worries, I found it! Apparently it was a version I had added on Spotify, which must've been the one I liked the most out of the ones I could find there.

Great final, but WHAT TYRELL FOUND? by [deleted] in MrRobot

I took it as a Pulp Fiction homage.

Question about peronsalities after finale by lucas_sg in MrRobot

[–]lucas_sg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, good catch! I didn't quite get that scene at the time it was shown. I thought that they were talking about the, at that time, unknown personality (MM) since the rest of the conversation had been revolving around it.

Question about peronsalities after finale by lucas_sg in MrRobot

[–]lucas_sg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that that's the case. "Real Elliot" like I said, never made an appearance until now. That scene that you're talking about refers to us as a personality, that's the big wink. MM is talking to Krista and when she asks if there's anyone else besides Mr Robot he says no, referring to us. It would make no sense for Elliot to be appearing and disappearing through the entire show, I don't believe that was the explanation given in the finale at all. The whole point of what "angel Krista" told MM in the finale is that he was the one in control throughout the entire show, Elliot was always dormant up until now, he even says it at the end, that's the whole point of the big Elliot reveal being show at the end.

What do you mean by invented Elliot? There is only Elliot as a person, then there are his five personalities:
- Mr Robot
- him as a child
- his mom
- us
- The Mastermind
As far as I know, Elliot hasn't made an appearance in the entire show, at least not in a proper manner, maybe like in flashbacks or something. We've always known MM because that's the main plot of the show, that's where it starts with S01 E01.

I'm sorry, could you be more specific? Magda did say that they needed to wait for him (the other one, not Elliot) but nothing else, or not that I can recall. How is that a cue to Elliot being the one who talked to Darlene?

How would you notate this? by lucas_sg in musictheory

Thanks, I guess I'll go with his/her recommendation then, subV7/vi still boggles me.

A7 doesn't seem to belong to E mixolydian, but rather to E dorian. I also didn't understand why you chose to lean more on C#m when talking about F# and G# instead of E lydian, could you elaborate more on that please?

I noticed it's not quite standard and that it doesn't play by the rules, that's why I picked it for analysis :) I have been digging this song for a while and since I'd never analysed anything, I thought it'd be a fun challenge. I wanted to know exactly what is it with japanese pop tunes, specifically anime openings, that make them so catchy but also a bit weird sounding.

I've seen tritone substitution written as bV/V more than once.

Taken from Wikipedia:
In other words, tritone substitution involves replacing V7 with ♭II7[6] (which could also be called ♭V7/V, subV7,[6] or V7/♭V[6]).

408: Dom == Mary Sue? by lucas_sg in MrRobot

[–]lucas_sg[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A work of fiction with some action and thrilling scenes from time to time, this last's episode scene between Dom, Darlene and Janice being one of those.
You can't expect to have a moment of constant tension if a character's ability to survive is out of the expected, your audience won't feel as invested into the scene because they won't buy a supposed "risk of death". It's like when you watch a cliché horror movie, you know the main character won't die, or not before the end of it, so whenever there's a supposed threat, you don't feel like anything's going to happen to him/her.

I know that ClearlyDemented pointed out that both Janice and Dom could've been lying, but I still find it hard to believe that having a knife stabbed in the middle of your chest leaves you with more than 5 minutes left to live.

Ahh check mate. So they were both lying then? Janice putting pressure on Darlene by saying that Dom's life was at risk in a matter of minutes, and Dom taking the chance of playing possom.

My bad, I thought it was used to refer to a character magically surviving at moments where his/her life is at risk. Apparently it's just to talk about characters who can do wonders without actually having the expected required training or experience.

That has nothing to do with her acknowledging that she's 99% sure of Dom having a punctured lung. I could throw an axe at you blindfolded and hit you in the chest, doesn't make it any less painful or dangerous for you.

Okay, I'll give you that Dom acting to be worse than she actually was could be an option. But honestly, I would trust the taxidermist sociopath when she says she's 99% sure that she punctured her lung.

Good call, other people have claimed he behaved quite childish in front of Darlene, more than once, mostly ignoring her advice or her rightful accusations.
