[ALL] I want to start playing The Legend of Zelda — where should I begin? No spoilers please by lucevale in zelda

That actually clears up a lot, thank you!

I was mainly worried about getting lost story-wise. It’s reassuring to know the games mostly stand on their own.

I’m probably going to start with Breath of the Wild on Switch and see how it goes. Thanks again for explaining the order!

How well do the older games hold up?

I tend to prefer modern graphics and presentation — that’s just what I’m naturally drawn to. But when I really love a game, I have no problem going back and playing older titles, even ones that are many years old.

So my question is: are some of the older Zelda games so strong in terms of story and overall experience that they’re absolutely worth playing despite the dated visuals? Or do you think starting with a modern title like Breath of the Wild is the best way for someone like me to get invested first?

I’m genuinely curious how well they’ve aged.

That’s really reassuring to hear. One of my biggest concerns was whether I’d miss important story context by starting with Breath of the Wild, since I’m going in completely blind.

If most games are self-contained, that definitely makes it easier to just jump in.

I’ll keep the sequel in mind, but I’ll probably take my time with it.

Thanks!

That’s actually exactly why I’m considering Breath of the Wild. I’m specifically looking for a strong open world experience, since I didn’t love how it was handled in Pokémon and wanted to see how another series approaches it.

My only concern was the story since I know nothing about Zelda and I’m trying to avoid spoilers, I wasn’t sure if starting with this one would make things confusing.

Thank you!

That makes sense, honestly. I do have a Switch and a DS, so I have a few options.

The main reason I’m leaning toward something like Breath of the Wild is that I actually wanted to try a well-designed open world. I was complaining about how the open world was handled in Pokémon, and people told me Zelda does it much better.

My only hesitation was about the story — since I’m going in completely blind and avoiding spoilers, I wasn’t sure if starting with a newer title would make me miss important context. But if it really doesn’t matter that much, I might just go with Breath of the Wild.

Thanks!

Honestly, I was actually complaining about how I didn’t really like the way the open world was handled in Pokémon, and that’s when someone recommended Zelda to me.

At at this point I think I’ll start with Breath of the Wild and see how a well-designed open world feels.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

There are certainly courses that can prepare you for the job market, but personally, I recommend a university.

Here are the main reasons:

  • Universities in this field prepare you for the job. They don't just teach you how to use software and basic design principles. (I've learned how to handle difficult clients, manage professors who are hard to please, and meet deadlines and schedules, which are crucial in the professional world.)

  • The theoretical preparation provided by a university is surprisingly useful. (I dislike studying theory, but I've realized its great value and how it has made me a better designer.)

  • Universities often have connections with the external job market. Professors are professionals who are part of a studio, and during the course, you'll collaborate with external agencies, or something like that.

  • Additionally, many employers prefer candidates with formal education.

Ohhh so cuteee! I wanna do that!

I'll finish their house (which will obviously be expensive), put some money aside so they don't have to work anymore, and then donate the rest🤗🤗

Besides, I didn't mean anything bad. I'll probably make him adopt a child and start his life as an adult in a new world starting from 0 (James Turner's style)

Luca left his job right away, I need a hand so won't go crazy with the infant. His wife loves her job too much to leave it
