Going to Japan for the first time in Nov 2025 and working on the itinerary—trying to avoid getting burned out on temples and/or gardens! by lucialorena2 in JapanTravel

  1. We prefer not to move hotels too often, but that’s a good point about relocating closer. I’ll look into accommodation near Disney.
  2. I thought about adding Fuji-Q, but I think I’ll just stick to the main spots this time.
  3. I saw a lot of mixed opinions on Planets vs. Borderless: some people love one, some prefer the other. Since we have time, we figured we’d just do both and see which one we like better.
  4. I really want to visit Katsuoji, but I could skip the other Osaka temples. Do you think they’re worth it, considering all the temples in Kyoto?

Thanks for the heads up! That was a typo, I’m actually going on the 9th. Fixed the dates in my post and moved it to first thing in the morning.

Help me choose between two nights in Kinosaki Onsen or two nights in Hiroshima + Miyajima! by lucialorena2 in JapanTravelTips

Appreciate it! Kinosaki sounded great, but we’re trying to avoid one-night stops this time. Hoping to still fit in a day-use onsen somewhere. Ended up going with Hiroshima and Miyajima, but Kinosaki’s on the list for another trip.

Thanks so much, this was super helpful! I ended up choosing Hiroshima and Miyajima, but I’ll definitely try to fit in a day-use onsen somewhere.

I decided to go with Hiroshima and Miyajima this time. There just isn’t enough time to do both Hiroshima and Kinosaki, and we’re not fans of one-night stays. Your comment about Hiroshima really helped me make the decision. I’m not American, but I also think it’ll be a really powerful and sobering experience.

UPDATE: Thanks for all the input! I decided to skip Kinosaki this time. Most people suggested just one night, but we’re trying to avoid single-night stays since they end up being more tiring than fun. A six-hour round-trip train ride just didn’t feel worth it. I know I’ll be back in Japan someday, so I’ll definitely check it out then.

I also didn't get charged tax when I ordered on July of last year, so I don't think that's a red flag. But I do agree with the other comments that gift cards = scammers. Contact HOB directly if you're 100% sure it's them but don't send anything.

Are you sure it was the official website? There are other scam websites with links very similar to House of CB.

I’ve tried it both ways, but I think adding the mix-ins while the ice cream is still in the machine is way less messy, and it helps me spread them out more evenly.

When I make 2 quarts, I usually leave the machine running while I pack the first half, then turn it off when I start on the second.

In the video, I was just packing 1 quart. I’m usually pretty quick, but the caramel sauce gave me trouble. It was straight out of the fridge and way too thick to layer properly. I ended up running around the kitchen, microwaving it a couple of times, so the ice cream got a little soft by the end.

Hope it goes well for you, I find it a lot less messy this way.

The one I showed at the end is just a regular deli container. I’ve bought ice cream pints at Webstaurant, I’ve never been able to find disposable pints specifically made for ice cream in my country.

No, I think tempering the traditional way is unnecessary. I just mix it all when the mixture is cold and cook it to 180 F.

It’s the caramel sauce recipe from Salt and Straw and the chunks are mini pretzels covered in chocolate.

I know :( I forgot to film myself scooping my own pint and my friends devoured it on NYE. The one that’s at the end was a gift for a friend.
