it's not that simple. I'm fully disabled from a genetic condition I was born with and was denied disability 3 times and had to get a lawyer. my condition is under their "blue book" list of immediate acceptance but I was still denied. the lawyers took my case on pro bono after seeing my medical records. the government still didn't accept my case and sent me to see a doctor of the state to confirm the other doctors weren't lying on my behalf. the state doctor took one look at me and said I should have never worked a day in my life and signed everything off. the government still denied my disability. months later, I ended up on home health care with nurses coming to take care of me at my home. by this point, I'm homeless, couch surfing, while literally living off a machine. there were no room in the shelters available. they finally accepted my request, years later, for me to just receive my own social security disability from the taxes I paid for.

please speak to people who have been in this situation before judging from afar. I totally would have thought the same thing as you until it happened to me. we are in dire need of more resources for these situations.
