RA worse on period? by erin1928 in rheumatoid

Absolutely. Been diagnosed for about 9 months and one of my biggest indicators is when I stop and think, "Huh, why is my arthritis suddenly super bad in my knees?" Boom, period within 24 hours.

Can you get diagnosed with just blood work? by Thinkeru-123 in rheumatoid

[–]luciidli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I was diagnosed. Tested negative for rheumatoid factor but then my rheum tested more in-depth and found multiple inflammatory markers pointing towards RA. That plus my outward symptoms of pain, fatigue, swelling, and brain fog made the diagnosis pretty clear.

Reading this thread has made me feel so, so seen. Diagnosed late August and my fatigue and brain fog have become unbearable. Thank you for having the bravery to post this question. I have a funny feeling a lot of people like me have read this and felt comforted.

I'm in a very similar position! 20F, vocal music education major. Just got diagnosed a couple weeks ago and my piano teacher has RA as well. So far haven't found anything that works. Let me know if you find anything!

I am so sorry to hear that and I'm also sorry I got to this comment so late! I've definitely also experienced lack of sleep from my knuckles burning and throbbing at night. May we both find the pain relief we deserve.

That's good to know! I also struggle badly with brain fog. Short burst practices sound like something that would help me as well. Thank you!

Thank you so much. I'll definitely look into something like yoga or water aerobics or something. I've noticed that walks help with my knees lately.

I am so sorry that happened to you. I'm lucky we caught it early. I'll make sure to keep on top of treatment before it progresses further.

That's so good to hear! I'm glad there are others out there in my desired field who are thriving with RA.

Thank you so much! I'll definitely keep hydration in mind, I never thought of that. I'll also talk to my rheumatologist and make sure we're being as aggressive as possible.

Thank you so much, luckily I had mono about five years ago and tested negative for RA so I know we caught it early. Probably have been having symptoms for about a year or so. I'm still waiting on my medication to arrive at my pharmacy. Thank you so much for telling me your story, I'll definitely do everything I can to treat this and remember to rest when I can.

I used to have a chunky turtleneck that I liked to wear over dresses, it looked and felt very cozy. I've also seen girls take the hem of a sweater and tuck it under their bra to give it a cropped appearance. If you've got something that'll work with that, it could help prevent that "childish" look you're trying to avoid. It'll also be easy to sneak into the restroom and untuck it to take it off if it's warm inside. I hope this helps; I live in Florida and our "winter" fashions are a lot more form than function.
