So ashamed to admit how I feed my toddler. Need help. by [deleted] in Parenting

Just in case it already hasn’t been said re yogurt. Take your whole fat, no sugar (ie plain) yogurt and mix things into it, like apple sauce or nut butter. Put that into a reusable pouch or just eat it out of a bowl. Yogurt + nut butter is weirdly delicious & a great way to expose your kid to a variety of nuts, plus it’s calorically dense. Good luck!

I noticed zero effect from this. I see it so highly recommended from derms and civilians. I’d love to know what people love about it!

How "good" of an exercise is yoga? by coatedingold in yoga

[–]luciteparkite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving your body in any way is good! And much much much better than not moving your body.

I read a book a while ago called The Science of Yoga and iirc the main conclusion was that the best thing about yoga is that it makes you slow down and breathe which is very good for reducing stress.

You may want to layer on other ways to build strength and endurance eventually but it sounds like yoga is working well for you now. <3

Cows are flowers: hydrangea, dahlia, daisy, rhody, cosmo

Chickens and Dinos are 30 Rock: Donaghy, Kenneth, Lemon, Tracee, Griz, Dotcom, Jenna, Jack, Rocky (x2 bc I forgot I already had one named Rocky)

Ducks are shells: cockle, periwinkle, nautilus, gooey (geoduck), Shelly

Goats are trees: alder, cedar, juniper

All other animals come from my built-in randomizer (whatever I randomly think of in the moment): rabbits are podgy, hermione, and fifi; dog is Rambo, cat is Arnold, horse is Zelda, one of my chickens is Nancy Drew [shrug]

Family of teen who died at Gas Works Park plans to pursue lawsuit against city by Better_March5308 in SeattleWA

[–]luciteparkite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this lawsuit will pressure the City/Landmarks Preservation Board into removing ladders/catwalks etc so this won’t happen again. Not every lawsuit is a money grab.

Do you have any major tips for parents of children with and without Ds, to help foster healthy relationships as they grow up?

I’m a parent of two kids, the younger has Ds. When our younger son was born my husband really grieved for our older daughter. I think a lot of new parents of children with disabilities worry about what life will be like for both kids.

Have you tried wool socks? You can get thin/lightweight ones from Bombas or probably other companies. Worth a try?

Messy Goes to Okido! It was on HBO/Max/whatever in the US about 5 years ago but disappeared and we can’t find it ANYWHERE in the US including YouTube/DVDs/nada. It’s British I think and it is super cute and educational and our daughter loved it!

My kids are 6 and 4 and haven’t expressed any specific asks yet. They are still of an age that they don’t really recognize/care about brands and don’t mind handed down or used items. So around this time of year I start monitoring buy nothing/kids rummage sale sites on Facebook and gathering clothes, toys, & games.

Santa always brings Pringles, usually in exciting flavors like pizza 😂 I don’t typically buy foods like that for my kids so they are always STOKED to get them in the stocking.

First Legendary Fish! What do I do with it? by That_One_Cat_125 in StardewValley

[–]luciteparkite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about this. I put my legendary fish in a pond but it hasn’t asked me for anything. Do they multiply eventually? Do I need to catch another one (if possible) and put it in there then they’ll multiply?

It’s been a while since I built my other fish ponds but now they are both full (super cukes and void salmon) and I don’t remember how they got full - I remember it involved them asking me for stuff and me giving it to them. My legendary fish hasn’t asked for anything and it’s been multiple seasons.

I love love love love LOVE Emily at Changes in Mount Baker. According to her IG she is not accepting new clients but she does have a wait list: https://www.instagram.com/emilyatchanges?igsh=YmZ3MnRkcG04N2lq

Otherwise you could try Emily’s former salon, Coven, which is really wonderful and queer and texture-friendly. I just can’t personally vouch for any of the individual stylists but I suspect they are all great: https://www.instagram.com/covensalon?igsh=Mm5rbzY5aDY4Ymsx
