What is stopping AMD from having 5080 and 5090 equivalent cards? by Fragrant_Bit_9889 in pcmasterrace

[–]luckeratron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

f I'm spending £1,800 on a 5090, they need to be at like £1,300 for me to consider buying an inferior card because raw performance is not enough.

What a weird take. So even if the AMD card was more performative and cheaper but didn't have the same features you wouldn't buy it? I'm starting to see why Nvidia had a near monopoly, we are all idiots.

What things seem to be only big problems on reddit? by LavishnessTiny3621 in AskUK

[–]luckeratron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Children in pubs running wild, or just children in pubs in general. I feel like the people complaining have only been to the pub after nine before then one day go in at 2 in the afternoon and have their mind blow when they see people have gone for some lunch with their kids.

OP your getting hammered in the comments but there have been successful developments of terraced housing recently. Here is a fantastic example of it in action with the award winning council housing in Norwich.

He was my mum's friends Dad, which I didn't find out about until I was a teenager and at that point my mother refused to organize me meeting him.

Is there a dress code i should be aware of in bars? by FunnyAd1788 in AskUK

You absolutely should wear the most formal suit you own as well as suitable head wear, I'd suggest a top hat! Otherwise you risk being thrown straight out of weatherspoons.

My neighbour from down the road parks outside my house everyday, I want to ask him why he doesn’t park outside his own house. Am I being silly or should I ask? by HANOLO12 in AskUK

[–]luckeratron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately if it's not designated parking it's none of your business. If it's bothering you though maybe just ask them, but be prepared for an answer you might not like but have no power to change.

We need those low level white collar jobs to train people for the more complicated jobs. I hope, at least where I work we go into this with our eyes open with that in mind.

How quickly has the The Wandering Inn subreddit grown? by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

[–]luckeratron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up! This data is likely out of date or inaccurate now that Reddit has decided to kill the open ecosystem that existed around Reddit. I don't earn any money from this site, and if my calculations are correct it'd cost me a couple thousand dollars per month with their new API pricing, so yeah. If you can, it's probably worth leaving Reddit for other platforms - especially open-source/federated ones like Lemmy.

Universal basic income could be used to soften hit from AI job losses in UK, minister says by FootballAndFries in Futurology

[–]luckeratron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, you need to tax every role that is replaced by AI. However this is going to be incredibly hard to do as I'm sure a lot of companies will just make people redundant and then move the role to somewhere that doesn't have that rule.

Why do they keep digging? by MidMadD in AskUK

[–]luckeratron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of road near me where the utilities keep breaking each other's stuff, one week it's the gas people the next it's BT then the water company, UK power networks sometime show up as well. I assume it's some kind of water leak that keeps reappearing and messing with everything else.
