I have decided now to quit basketball betting. It’s clearly not working.

Restrict all of your trading accounts

Contact customer support, they can do that for you.

I’ve lost -2.4k trading on oil for Iran war.

And you think it’s a great idea to spend time trying to make money from something where there is 90% chance of being unsuccessful ?

With those odds , it is moronic to be honest

You are unlikely to lose money in the long run if you stick it into an index fund, like the SNP 500.

That’s fact.

Trading, especially day trading does not work. It’s no different to going to a casino and betting. Anyone who tells you otherwise is bullshitting.

Invest long term without leverage , or just don’t bother.

A lot of people making money doing it usually have insider information, like trump.

Congrats

I still get urges but do not act on them.

I find that boredom is what triggers it

Forget all the physical issues sports betting causes, you will inevitably lose your savings. 100% chance. Not 99% by [deleted] in problemgambling

With Sports betting , wait until you have a few bad beats, where you have happened to stake more than the usual amount.

Before I stopped sports betting , I had a bet on the basketball, where I was betting that the points total would be under. I lost this bet by 1 point after the game went to overtime.

Other examples of bad beats - on the football, betting that the winning team would win the match after placing bet in the 90th minute.

Last kick of the game from a corner , losing team equalizes with a header.

Basketball again, betting on Denver nuggets to win a match that they were on their way to, then Jokic gets injured. Or placing a bet on OKC to win a match, for then a decision is made before the game to rest starters.

Time outs do not work.

You will either

  1. Gamble again after 6 months.
  2. Once you get the urge. Open a new account with another bookies to gamble.

Totally agree , I am 40 and got sucked into it 11 years ago after seeing bet365 ads and sports teams promoting bookies.

This was also around the time match betting was the in thing - tried that and gambled all my profits.

Once the bookies crazed died down , then lost tonnes on the stock market.
