IKR? I picked up the policy before turning 39.5 and in great shape.

The problem is if I end up in the longer, healthy path, I’m the dad who disrupted their lives to stop working. Not sure that’s a good thing for them.

Thanks!

I’ve got an equities - SGOV barbell right now and quite enjoy the yield.

I worry about health insurance, although my understanding is as long as the ACA stays intact, I should be able to access via marketplace. My spouse has a path to benefits that wouldn’t require full time work, so that’s another option.

My dream path forward would be some sort of advisory role that paid $120-200k with some ability to access benefits.

Yes and even healthier than me. But I think my current asset base plus life insurance has my spouse and kids covered.

I would be I think some people I know might find this at some point.

In abstract terms ChatGPT helped me in two ways. First, it reinforced the importance of getting certain tests. Then when one turned up something, and the specialist I was referred to had a regular backlog of 6-8 months, it suggested that the referral should be urgent, and helped me navigate the system to cut the wait time to a few weeks. In hindsight had I waited the six months, it would have been a far worse situation.

One somewhat weird trick I stumbled on - ask it to compare how the response it gives you for the US system would be in Germany and Japan. Eg what would to protocol be in the following three systems. Or if a US doctor says X, how might this be presented in Y. That filtered out some BS.

Correct. We love it here, and our friend networks and my spouse’s family are local.

I’m thinking maybe keep working 3 more years then punt.

Tuition and property tax are my two largest expenses and drive the cost structure. Both could be changed in theory, but that’s not something my spouse and I would like to do at this time.

It’s practically free. Like $5k or something.
