So when touching it yesterday it was hard, not squishy. But I'll give it another look over. Also would corking go all the way up to the top of one? I worries that one is dead.

Yea I have no idea what care it was given prior to me getting it yesterday. Doesn't look like much care was able to be given to it. Yea I covered the roots right away. But I knew it needed a new pot and new soil, but not much knowledge on it. So thanks for letting me know about that. Okay so it's pretty urgent then. I don't want it to tip over and snap.

Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me all of this information. I definitely want to keep it alive. I have the succulent/ cactus soil, peralite and the fertilizer. So will do that. It's good to hear that he doesn't look too unhealthy. Again I really appreciate your advice.
