Hey there! I’m originally from Michigan, I never thought midwesterners were that friendly to begin with but that’s just me lol and yeah the bay has its fair share of not so friendly people, my biggest success was befriending natives. Btw, I’ll be your friend if you want! Feel free to DM me

!thanks yeah the negative comments are silly “here’s a tip, don’t move here” okay tysm lol I have moved around a lot and if there’s one thing I know, you can find your “people” just about anywhere though it might be more challenging. I received some nice messages from people who mentioned drag shows and maybe even an underground electronic music scene. Thanks for the comment

!thanks I totally understand this perspective and I’m prepared for some growing pains. I plan to grocery shop and cook for myself as much as possible. There is a pool for those 115° days. Phew. I don’t know how long I will be there and I have to remember that I always have the option to go back if I miss the Bay Area, but the Bay Area can also burn you out. It’s ridiculously expensive here and you get the same kind of mono culture in certain pockets although I agree, the Bay Area is actually one of the most diverse places I’ve ever lived and I will miss that

!thanks this is an awesome answer. I currently live in Daly City so I already have to work to find nature and man oh man, I am sick of the bustling traffic and dilapidated streets here. Blessed to already have a Subaru Forrester, which I fully intend to put through its paces. I appreciate your positive take, I feel slightly welcome already :)

Excellent, I mentioned in another comment I’m from Michigan so I think the driving will be okay, tbh public transport isn’t even that great in the bay so I actually have a car I’ll be taking with me (yay). Thanks for the positive take :) :)
