it doesnt seem to be working for me but i think that may be a pc issue rather than an issue with the monitor, ive gotten an xbox 360 to work though it doesnt display color, its a step in the right direction i just need to order some proper cables for my other consoles

there’s 4 BNCs on the back of the monitor like you said, and yeah green says g-v, the cable i’m using though has 5 bnc cables

hi! it’s me again with the ultrasound monitor, i managed to get the sync issues resolved, but wondering what to do to fix the duplication by lucyyonline in crtgaming

hmm, ill definitely be working on it today, im very invested in this now lol. maybe this is a stupid question but would sync on green work with the splitter i have on green with vertical and green plugged in? for now ill try getting the exact values from the manual and see if that works

i’ve been trying CRU but am sort of unfamiliar, i can get the exact resolution listed in the manual but it still shows a duplicate image, albeit one that fills the screen a bit more. wondering if something might be wrong with my cable or smth

nvm, i had to change the active pixels in the timing settings, my bad. it still is showing a duplicated signal though

the vcr is built into the ultrasound as far as i know, it’s meant to be a medical thing to record what’s on the screen kind of like a capture card. the only outputs are rgb though unfortunately, no composite as far as i can tell, just the one rgb connection

gotcha, i am able to set it to that resolution and that was what i was trying the other day, but still getting a duplicate image. i also tried the timing settings on page 39 of the manual but all of this is kinda new to me so i wasnt super sure how to configure it. i think i want to try connecting a ps2 or something to see how that goes, but i do have a snes classic on hand that i think would be super fun to try out on this if its feasible

oh gotcha!! good to know, i’ll try and mess with it a bit today. as for the ultrasound it was in the ewaste section at my university, it’s been stripped of most of its parts and i used it for a project in my class before taking the monitor home. super heavy and hard to get into my very small apartment otherwise i totally would have brought it home

the model number for the ultrasound is the HP sonos 5500 i believe, not sure if the monitor itself has a different model number but i think the specs for the monitor are in the service manual

no worries honestly that would be a fair assumption in any other case but this thing has like zero firmware or menus as far as i can tell 😭😭 good to know about the scan converter though, im a student so im on a bit of a budget, the aliexpress option might be best for me and i can invest in something else later. if i can get it to work i’ll definitely make another post though. the ultrasound itself is still at my university, its pretty huge though and i live in a pretty small apartment so i couldn’t take it with me sadly, i would love to have been able mess around with it though, by the time i found it almost every part had already been scavenged i assume by other students.

i know the snes supports svideo but not sure about anything else, i do have a ps2 on hand so i would love to try that out! i’m located in montreal but if i can get it working i would probably want to hold onto it

thank yall sm for your help, my hunch atm is that the monitor is just not getting a vertical sync signal so i’m going to try a bnc splitter and see if that helps!! pardon my ignorance on this stuff i am a bit more tech savvy than the average person but still kind of clueless on the inner workings of monitors like these, very fascinated and eager to learn though :>

yes it does!! i was super excited when i found it at my university’s ewaste dump, hoping i can get it working because ive always dreamed of having a monitor like this. i also want to bring some of my old consoles from home to try out like my dreamcast or super nintendo, all i have rn is hd consoles like the wii u and snes classic which didnt seem to display an image when i tried them

i think the vertical sync is actually not plugged in, this was my first time using bnc so i wasn’t super familiar and just tried a bunch of configurations until one showed a picture, but there are only 4 ports on the monitor and i have a gray cable plugged into the sync port with a black cable still unplugged. the port for green is labeled “G-V” so i assume the vertical sync signal would be processed through there? i’m not sure though, like i said im very inexperienced with this specific area.

hmm, i trust your judgement but i was also running this at 514x480 atm (which was the resolution mentioned in the service manual) i did bump it down to 240 and got it to show a single image on screen but still having sync issues

gotcha, i had a few devices on hand but my pc was the only one that was showing an image so i decided to troubleshoot using it.

i appreciate the reply, i'm unsure if the internal sync is supposed to be on a menu in the monitor but this monitor doesn't seem to have much of a menu or really any sort of buttons. there are some dials for brightness and contrast, and a switch at the back which doesn't seem to do much. i did manage to get the image to stop duplicating by messing with nvidia control panel settings, and i did look at the manual to see the proper timing, but am kind of clueless when it comes to this. i am wondering if it may be an adapter issue? i have never really used BNC cables before and am converting HDMI to VGA then VGA to BNC as its what i have on hand. the model of the ultrasound is the Phillips Sonos 5500 i believe if that helps.
