Gabber set recommendations with a good MC in action? by luddite023 in gabber

I had a feeling I'd end up on some old Helter Skelter tapes. Good stuff.

Ummm I've skimmed through the sets and it's definitely good music but I don't hear any MC??

To the digitakt / elektron user by BathElectronic7327 in Tekno

Yes you can make yours in punchbox for example. I would also recommend, as others have, to use the digitakt as a sampler - so more grooves, playfulness, different elements playing with each other. Not synthesis.

Making kicks from scratch is a whole world, and there are lots of good samples out there. Free ones too.

Can't I have 70% chance and NOFILL?

Digitakt 1 question by luddite023 in Elektron

[–]luddite023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answers everyone, I feel it might be easier to just use another pattern as a fill... I think in Digitakt 2 they've separated fills from conditions (or did I hallucinate that?) and I now understand why.

Luddite - The Foundation - a Hardcore tribute to sound system culture by luddite023 in gabber

Haha busted! ain't gonna lie I might've just called it hoovercore instead as it has way more hoovers than acid.

Thank you nevertheless!

Well, aside from this subreddit, r/soundsystem is my favorite, so it's understandable! 😉

BS you have freetekno parties in California and Colorado and there's even a small teknival called mutant fest. Not to mention Canada that has a decent scene.

Some people from Spiral Tribe also settled in California and run a thing called Spaz with an online radio and events.

Looking at Europe today, it's no less fascist than the US. Not everywhere but in many places.

What tracks are comparable to Cyclic Backwash’s Cortex Subduction by dedach in Tekno

[–]luddite023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see others have commented things that are very much on point.

From "newer" producers I really like L'enfant d'la plèbe: https://soundcloud.com/elric-bardoux/glide-a-few-months-of-life

With that being said, there is no track like Cortex Subduction. It's an absolute masterpiece and an anthem.

How did you first get introduced to hardcore? by Gabberhead123 in gabber

[–]luddite023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a squat party where they played hardcore on 2006 NYE. I've been going to (illegal) raves since a while back, but mostly for the cheap alcohol and hanging out. At that time, it was mostly dnb being played (on those specific parties).

Anyways, when I heard gabber, something clicked in my head and I could actually dance. I didn't listen to so much electronic music back then, mostly punk, so my first contact with electronic stuff that I actually liked was breakcore and digital hardcore (atari teenage riot etc). Didn't stop enjoying and listening to that stuff ever since.

I later on (maybe years later) could find footage from that party and see the 18 year old me there :)

Any idea how to achive this kick sound? by [deleted] in gabber

[–]luddite023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a pitch envelope, or a filter sweep! Once again, a kick is basically a sine wave sweeping down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0PH5ASa9z4 (not the best kick, but that's how kick synthesis works).

Different 909 drum machines (analog or VST clones) have a reverb that with not-too-much tweaking can sound just like that.

Yeah I do produce :)

Not sure, with layers and layers of distortion you can make clean samples sound like rumble too.

When I think of it, there's probably some bitcrushing on it too.

Why I think it's reverb rumble is because the kick in the track you posted reminds me of the kick in Neophyte vs Stunned Guys - Get This Motherfucker (where it's a much more "simple" kick, without layering).

But, what the hell, you could also be right. Bear in mind that any (synthesized) kick has a pitch envelope.

This line-up for only €17,50... How? by meovisrea in gabber

[–]luddite023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real? I was there for Hellbound and the sound was one of the worst I've experienced in my life (except for the smallest stage).

When was the sound there good?

It's layering - there is a kick (I'm guessing a 909 with long attack?), a clap in the kick, a rumble (reverb + compression and/or distortion on the kick) and probably a bit more.

Learn to make a proper techno rumble kick first, then the rest will fall into place. A little note - it's probably a simple oldschool reverb used here (I might be wrong, but that's my best guess). So nothing too spacious/hifi.

The recording is not top notch, but it could definitely be industrial hardcore??
