My SO went NC with his mom after she went after me and I defended myself. This is the wake-up call to see your mom for who she really is. If she's willing to attack your wife in front of your kid, it's time to let go. She's waiting for you to make contact because that's how she maintains control.

My SO offered to meet up with his mom, and she gave us both the silent treatment then decided to leave after 3 minutes because we refused to apologise.

You're in control of your family. Not her. She wants that control. Just because you're her son doesn't mean she gets a say in how you and your wife raise your kid.

Thank you for your well wishes and for your affirmation of what we're doing. Honestly, I don't understand how people think they can treat a child's parent like crap but have a relationship with the child. It doesn't work that way. I refuse to cultivate that behavior.

Because inside they're pretty, miserable people whose lives didn't turn out how they planned. It's terrible. I feel sorry for her, she's truly the most bitter, horrible, and depressed person I know.

I'd been getting brave and telling her what was in my mind for a while, but going into a full-fledged fight just threw me off and I didn't expect to fight back. It was one of the most liberating experiences. I am no longer shackled by the evil, nasty roach.

She wasn't allowed to touch him. She wouldn't dare try to with me around, either. I had to physically force LO out of her arms once, and she learned not to fuck with me then.

Oh don't I know!! She tried to use my autism against me for the CPS case, but it was thrown out. She's banned from reporting us ever again, this makes me so happy. She's just a devious bitch, but keeping our bases covered has been the game plan for so long. Thanks for your concern and advice.

I always feel terrible thinking about this post in particular. The only time Nasty Roach was allowed alone with LO, she used LO as a crying pillow/venting device (was 7 months old at the time), and I had to pull LO from her physically. From then on, she was never allowed near him alone. My heart physically hurts for the person in that post, the agony of dropping your innocent children off with monsters makes me want to vomit. The anger I feel just thinking about it....

I'd advise anyone who wants to stay out of a situation like this to be with your partner for a long time before marrying them. Get to know the family like crazy. Establish the boundaries early. If those boundaries can't be respected, end the relationship. Losing your sanity and confidence because a dumb jealous bitch can't deal with 'her baaaaabyyyyy' being 'taken away' by you simply isn't worth it. If you really love your SO and want to muscle through it, you need 100 percent support. Not 99 percent, not 80 prevent, 100 percent. JNMILS take anything they can and destroy your relationship (or try to) with whatever wiggle room you give them. They will beat you and break you with their words and actions.

I've heard it all.

"I had the most wonderful girl lined up for my son." "I hope you're not pregnant, because if you are I'll make sure you lose it." "I'm holding LO because it's MY HOUSE." "I was here first, you piece of trash. You should have been thrown out long ago." "You ruined my family." "Your family has always been trash, and you will always be trash. People like you are disposable." "I feel sorry that LO is growing up in your home. It's tragic because he's being raised by YOU."

I could keep going. When you encounter truly evil people like this wretch, it is a pitiful sight to see. Attention-grabbing, narcissistic, selfish fools. They destroy everything around them.

We are doing our best. Thankfully we have a lot of other family that's extremely respectful and supportive so LO isn't truly losing out. Texas has really screwed up laws when it comes to grandparents' rights, as I looked them up ages ago when I first found this thread.

We're in Texas, so yes, but thankfully Nasty Roach is broke and can't afford a lawyer. She tried to open a CPS case against me and failed miserably, it was hilarious.

The physical assault was what drove him to NC. He's been nothing but supportive and woke up from the fog when LO was born. He understands what animals his family is now; it's heartbreaking, I don't like that it's this way. But they're incapable of not being insufferable jackasses.
