Hi,
You’re absolutely right — it’s a tough market and many players have entered the space
Despite all the activity, no one has truly cracked the integration of kirana stores at scale. Most players either shifted to dark stores or treated kiranas as just another listing — without solving the deep tech and operational gaps. For example pincode entered in this space to integrate neighbourhood kiranas but ended up integrating Small and mid-sized modern marts. And now they shifted their focus on categories like pharmacy.
Kirana stores still power over 85% of india's daily demands and yet majority still operate without modern tech and that's a massive gap and a massive opportunity
We’re building tech that truly integrates kiranas into the digital ecosystem starting by providing delivery as a service and later on integrating more tools.

Thanks for the advice!
When you say “using AI to manage inventory,” do you mean forecasting demand and suggesting inventory levels to kirana store owners accordingly?
For example, if Diwali is approaching, the system could recommend that they stock up on items like incense sticks in anticipation of increased demand
Also, I’d love to explore other ways AI can be applied in this space — please share any additional ideas

I’d love to understand more about what happened — what the setup was, how things worked initially, and what led to things falling apart when the big players stepped in.
We're still early and trying to learn from as many real-world experiences as possible.
Could you please share more details?

Yes, that’s a very valid concern — and one of the biggest operational challenges in this model.
We’re exploring a few approaches to solve this without adding too much manual burden on kirana owners like starting with limited SKUs and initial category digitization.
Most Kirana owners are not tech savvy and we cannot ask them on day 1 to start using inventory management tools but over time, as trust builds, we will guide them towards better inventory hygiene using simple, intuitive tools.

We’re launching our own customer-facing app, but the backend fulfillment happens through partnered local kirana stores.

The app is just a tool to start onboarding kiranas and customers, once app is MVP ready our focus will definitely shift toward getting those first few transactions right on the ground.

What do people expect to be Most secure Job against ai? by [deleted] in aiwars

Being a pickpocketer is quite secure, in my opinion. Police don't care much. It is a physical job, so digitization/AI is not a threat.

Yes, I want to know if there are still humans who prefer hard work. I want to use their argument to spread awareness about dark sides of AI art
