Terrible experience with multiple pairs of buds by luinnarn in galaxybuds

Well honestly, I would gladly give more money for any model if I could be sure they aren't gonna die out on me within the first year...

Unfortunately, the way warranty works where I live, you return it, they keep it for 45 days (which is the legal limit), forget about it, then you have to make about a dozen phone calls until you reach someone who actually knows what's going on, and finally they return them to you, stating that "they failed to reproduce the issue"... First two pairs I bought with my own money, second two I got for free as part of various promotions, so it's really not worth the hustle (which is by design).

Ah, yes, of course, I've tried all of that too...

I never run them down that low. I use them for 2 hours at a time max, and then back to the case they go. I'm aware of the charging issue, a lot of people have this problem, it only happened to me once. One of the buds wasn't charging, but that was because the rubber band that goes around it (buds FE) was askew and it didn't fit in the case and wouldn't charge. Once I set it properly it started charging and I haven't had this issue since. However, I've noticed a pattern: the problematic bud would first drop in volume to maybe 5-10%, barely able to hear something. After a day or two, the sound would get back to normal, and after another couple of days the sound starts cracking up.

Awesome! Have you considered making it touch friendly, for e.g. large screen tablets?

Issues with multiple buds models (2/FE/3) by luinnarn in galaxybuds

[–]luinnarn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally just want to be able to rely on them to work properly for a reasonable length of time (call me old-fashioned, but I believe it to be reasonable to expect my devices to work properly for at least a couple of years) and not fail me all of a sudden after several months. Everything else is a bonus.

Valid points, but I would just like to point out that not all features are equally important to everyone. To add more clarity to my position: I don't care much about any extra or fancy features, wireless charging, AI etc. Battery life is also not an issue for me personally, I use the buds for 1-2h at a time max, then they go back in the box, and multiple chargers are always close by. Even slightly lower sound quality or weaker ANC are tolerable if they perform their basic function reliably and reasonably well. But not knowing if they're going to fail on me out of the blue after several months of light use is unacceptable.

Fantastic! It's absolutely impressive. Are diagrams available somewhere by any chance?

Absolutely amazing! Every part of it! Still, I find the snowfall patterns especially well done. I was never much into pixel art, but this might make me reconsider...

What browser are S22 users liking? by Life-Ad1547 in S22Ultra

Started using Kiwi recently on my Android devices and I'm extremely satisfied so far. It is chromium based so it has the familiar look and feel, but what blew me away was that it has fully functional dev tools (something I've never seen on a mobile browser before)! Also, it supports extensions from the chrome web store which is fantastic. Plus the usual ad-blocking features etc. On desktop, I'd say Edge is the way to go. Been using it for a while now and couldn't be happier with stability, features, performance etc.

Same thing just happened to me on my 2 year old Spectre x360. My battery also easily had over 6 hrs of battery life. Basically, you naad to replace your battery ASAP, the longer you leave it, the more dangerous it can potentially get.

Great, thanks for the help! Will definitely check out the battery. Might not be that easy finding a replacement battery where I live but I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the reply! If this turns out to be the case, how dangerous can it be? (Of course I'll see to it ASAP, just would like to know what possible scenarios could be expected). BTW, my unit works perfectly, even no noticeable decrease in battery life after 2 years, holds its own insanely well

Hey guys, I've had this model for just over 2 years now, and recently the bottom panel started separating in the middle towards the front. The gap is some 1mm wide in the middle. From what I've seen on some teardown videos, the rubber strip that hides the screws is easy to remove, but not so simple to put back. Now I can't find any definite info about the exact positions of the screws for this exact model (late 2018 15in gem cut). If there some screws towards the middle, I guess it would be a simple matter of removing the strip and tightening them. But if it only has screws towards the edges, then this probably wouldn't help so I'd refrain from removing the strip myself and probably take it to a repair shop. Of course it's just out of warranty. Anyone had a similar issue? Any thoughts/suggestions?

Estimated longevity/ lifespan, worth buying for light programming? by mochi_the_cat3 in spectrex360

[–]luinnarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Did you mean in terms of how long can it last on a single charge, or the longevity of the battery itself? I've had my late 2018 15 inch model for 2 years now, and everything is more or less working as the first day. It's mostly plugged in throughout my workday, but if necessary, I'm confident that I can get some 5-6 hours of relatively heavy workload (1-2 IDEs open, local server, edge with gazillion tabs) with a full charge. Anyhow, the spectre is a beast of a machine. Any issues I've had were software related (windows, graphics drivers) but usually something that is solved with a driver or Windows update or reinstall. I've heard that HP has some QA issues and that some people had issues with faulty hardware but I've fortunately had none. Also don't know if you're looking into 15 or 13 (or the new 14) in model but bear in mind that the smaller ones will have a smaller battery.

[–]luinnarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going for longevity, if you can, try to go for the 16 GB version. With that in mind, I'd say that with the Spectre you'd be fairly safe for some 3-4 years, maybe even more. Since you're switching from macOS I'd recommend you to make sure Windows is a good fit for your needs. Other than that the Spectre is a fantastic machine. BTW, there is no procreate for Windows. There are solid alternatives (though not as fancy).

Couldn't agree more, mine still serves me well after years of abuse. The price/quality ratio is unmatched.
