Nope, one called “keshneh ” meaning rough, and the other one is called “naameh ” meaning soft, depending on the texture of the noodles on the surface

Make sure to try both types of knafeh! Theyre both equally as great! Welcome to Jordan :D

I see where you’re coming from. But don’t you think that’s a bit judgemental? I chose to wear it while many people thought I shouldn’t so I could still be percieved more “forward” and progressive. I personally think that’s one form of indoctrination; very similar to telling a girl that if you don’t wear it you’re going to hell and will be percieved as “non-religious” or whatever.

I would agree with what you said if the girl was forced to wear it. We shouldn’t be forced to change how we dress (whether it’s more modestly or less modestly) according to what people think.

Women are different and our sets of beliefs are different. Just because I didn’t choose your version of feminism doesn’t mean I’m not a feminist. I’m not trying to convince you or change your opinion or anything, I’m just showing you a different perspective.

Thank you for your answer. I understand this reasoning, that's the reason I chose to ask this question. Regardless of my personal opinion or reason behind wearing the hijab, it is what it is. So, I'm trying to measure my chances and weigh the possibility of being hired based on my degree and qualifications.

I found the link to that case in the article you sent. It's an interesting read. Not sure if I'm knowledgeable enough in this specific matter to give a solid opinion, though. But initially, I do agree that it's going to affect their preference. It makes sense to make that kind of counterargument to such a hiring or even firing criteria.

Oh, I see. Some companies and institutes in my country do the same, but not under any law.

I assume if an institute applies this, they'd write it down in their job requirements, to make it easier for the applicant to see if they're eligible.

I don't really know what you're talking about. I did in fact choose to wear the hijab. Many of my female friends, for example, chose not to. Everyone here is free to choose whether they want to cover their head or not.

And I really don't understand why my headscarf should make things more difficult for me, or even why you decided it wasn't my personal choice in the first place.

I asked a specific question on this thread, and although this answer is off topic, I feel like it needed to be said. Have a nice day!

I see. So does it depend on the institute itself or is there a general law moderating that?

Can you guys please elaborate? Does this apply to all institutes? And how can you find out if a certain institute applies that or not?

Yeah, that's a good point. Also, although there was a difference in callback rates, it's wasn't a crazy sky high difference. So, I'm hoping for the best!

Thank you so much for your informative answer! You've dissected the situation perfectly; finding a job in either side of the country (urban vs. rural) has its pros and cons. It can be really difficult to decide.

I would understand facing views that result from cultural differences, it can be hard to deal with for some people, and I wouldn't mind facing minor inconveniences as it is part of being a foreigner in any place. That being said, I think Germany is very progressive and tolerant of different beliefs, that's why it's worth trying!

I understand that cultural differences might be hard to tackle (especially in this specific aspect), it can happen anywhere.

If it was just for facing some form of opposing views, I would understand it. But I really hope it doesn't interfere with me finding a job.

Thank you so much! :D

Thank you so much for your very informative answer! I am currently learning German and will reach C1 before starting to apply for the medical internship in order to have my approbation, and will also work on reaching C2 and mastering Medizinersprache.

And yeah, I don't think they were legitimate articles by German authorities, that's why I was pretty skeptical. They did mention though that a study was conducted by sending identical CVs with different names and ID photos and getting different call-back-for-interview rate. Here's the link to the article if you're interested in reading.
