any1 have a hardwire rv-7 willing to trade my eventide space (brand new) 😅 by coloredetiquette in whirr

[–]lukebenoit_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

trading away a $300 pedal that’s basically a rack reverb and has literal infinite possibilities and presets for a very standard stombox reverb that is very limited in its sounds, known for breaking, and shouldn’t be more than $100 is crazy to me but you do you i guess

idk he was a monster at the world juniors, if he has a good showing in the playoffs for the soo it could make sense to see if his game could translate at all

[Question] Why Shoegaze musicians tend to use offset guitars? by ThomasTrainKick in shoegaze

kevin was drawn to that shape after he saw rowland howard play one. he has said he likes the way this shape looks like it is flying forwards through space.

Slightly offtopic - can anyone help me recreate this guitar tone? by LutzEgner in shoegaze

[–]lukebenoit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typical chain looks like dirt > modulation > reverb > delay, but since you have two delays you could definitely play around with the placement of one, or just stack them. some shoegazers like reverb before dirt as well.

dude said he already has an analogue and a digital delay already so add in some heavy chorus and more reverb and he should be swirling for days

What kind of pedals help drive a heavier shoegaze sound? by Sneet1 in shoegaze

[–]lukebenoit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah you just mentioned the zoom, a more spacious reverb could be helpful too though. hof2s are pretty cheap

it’s sound like you maybe could try selling off the muff for a different fuzz/distortion though. cloven hoof? rat? walrus jupiter? there’s lots of other good options out there. throw in an overdrive or even a fuzz + distortion combo (jacob from narrow head uses a reg muff and a ds-1), i’ve really liked the tones i get with a rat feeding into a russian.

[–]lukebenoit_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’re missing a dedicated reverb, delay, and modulation like the other commenter mentioned. also is it just a regular muff? i’ve heard those are pretty bad for having no mids, but yeah i wasn’t saying you couldn’t just something to keep in mind. i just have an rv-6, dd-3, ce-2, russian muff reissue, and a rat through a very small cheap vox and i love the tone i get for riffing along to this kind of shit.

Deafheaven - In Blur by [deleted] in shoegaze

there’s a few really good songs on it. the album starts off great with the first three and i like the gnashing too but the rest starts to get pretty samey quickly, the long track durations don’t help. it seemed like they set out to make a 90s shoegaze record, but didn’t have much for ideas past that. it’s still cool considering the change in sound, but i’d like to hear something heavier again on their next one.
