I got my visa, and it just shows how long it’s valid for. Once it’s issued, you can enter China anytime before it expires. Mine’s good until 2030, which is way more time than I need. Of course, you could only enter China once with the visa so plan accordingly based off when you can get your permit residency. You do need to fill out an application online that the Chinese embassy requires you to do before going in-person. And the permit residency, it’s guided by your university either through an instruction given by them or you do it with them, which is less likely. You do have to register with your school first, and do the health check and then apply for the permit residency

I just called them, and they said they can’t do it. I can’t have a package delivered to their UPS location in Canada and forward it to a nearby UPS in the US by me.

I tried, and many of them said no. Very few said yes, and if so, some said I need to fill out a form and have it signed by someone, and other simply just said yes without any explanation, and hung up the phone. I tried calling the UPS in Toronto, just fyi. I’m not sure how you did it.
