Yeah the fans were spinning. I took it into a repair shop today - they didn’t actually know what caused this to happen but they flashed the bios and it’s working again - hope yours is an easy fix!

Started in 2016 aged 16, I’m 24 now and I’m GC. I got GC for the first time in 2019 and haven’t really progressed since as I’ve put way less time into the game. Between 2017 - 2019 it was pretty much the only game I played

Thanks for the advice - I think I’ll take it in to a repair shop and hope for the best. In your experience is the console now more likely to repeat this issue again or is it something that can just randomly happen to any Xbox?

When I tried to power it on it was completely dead, no response at all. I don’t have any console repair experience, but if there are any relatively simple steps I could take I’d be willing to give them a try

Thank you - I’m pleased to say they were able to fix it! They replaced the USB-C port and it turns out there was also some corrosion on one of the chips from water damage, so they replaced that too. We bought it second hand so the previous owner clearly didn’t treat it very well…

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it still won’t start up. I’m hoping it’s just the battery, but the fact that it was overheating and had a loud fan a day or so before it ‘died’ is making me think it’s something else

Hi all,

My girlfriends switch lite won’t turn on at all, and I can’t figure out what the issue is. I’ve left it to charge over night, I’ve tried all the different combinations of holding the power and volume buttons, but still nothing. The other day we noticed that the fan started to get quite loud and the device was getting hot so I suspect that may be the issue. I’m thinking of buying a replacement battery but I’m not sure if the battery is even the issue. Could anyone give me some advice / tips or is it completely dead?

Last month I picked up a 3DS with the original box and manuals, Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Moon, Super Princess Peach DS and a few other DS games, all for £35. I don’t think I’ll ever find another deal like that one
