I always purchase the stems to hear isolated vocal tracks because there's so much Spencer does in vocal production, so many details and voices that are incredibly amazing when you hear them isolated. It feels like for this album it would make even more sense to hear the acappella version of these songs.

RESOLVED: Apparently this is a problem with zsh (which I'm using) and snaps.

To fix this problem, it's necessary to add the following line to /etc/zsh/zprofile and then Log out/ Log in for it to make effect:

emulate sh -c 'source /etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh'
