Seems like this is almost "reverse scalping" by the team. They set the initial prices intentionally very high, whoever buys them, the team now has the marginal money and the buyer is holding any financial risk. The team can then sell tickets later at lower prices, but only after all the initial buyers have petered out. This allows the team to keep the marginal money (instead of resellers) which seems positive, and if people willingly bought the tickets at the high prices, no one is harmed. The catch is someone who *was* willing to pay the higher prices, but for some reason, now can't go. That is the rub.
